I got a low A at AS, and a very middle-of-the-road B at A2 (30 marks on either side, between the B and A grades), I guess thanks to a D in the Modern Literature paper (comparison between 1984 and The Handmaid's Tale) which I WAS a bit surprised about. Not sure why I didn't think about getting it re-marked... I had a maths paper re-marked and gained two marks - all that was needed to boost my overall grade from a B to an A! That was very lucky. And here I am applying to Cambridge. All I can say is that at least it wasn't one of the 'old' literature papers, which I guess are more respected at Cambridge than the modern stuff that's not even really in their course.
Anyway, I'm sure you guys have nothing to worry about! And good luck for your exams! -
I got 100% in my Eng Lit exams at AS. Maybe I should have applied to study English at degree level
Something tells me that A2 will be much more difficult than AS though! Which texts is everyone studying this year? I'm doing Marlowe-Edward II and Pope-Rape of the Lock. Did anyone else love doing the comparative coursework this year?
I really enjoyed being able to choose my own texts to study and working independently! Am most worried about the synoptic paper! 3 hours arghhh!!

No need to worry, you'll be fine(Original post by Atonement)

As long as you do a couple of mocks you'll find that it's really not as long as it seems! If you got an A at AS you're probably talented enough to find that you have more than enough to say on the paper and it'll fly by!

I got 85/85 for one of my papers. Not sure if (m)any get 600/600 for the entire course though.(Original post by magicalsausage)
Why do so many people get 100% in the AS/A2 system? Here in Scotland it is possible for sciences (especially maths) but for Arts 100% is more of a theoretical maximum rather than a mark that the most able candidates should be getting.
In a way I don't think a person getting 600 is that amazing. It shows they've swallowed their texts but I don't expect it would leave much time for extra reading. -
Same. There seem to be a few people who this happened to. I got a C on the Modern Novel paper, having performed well enough for A's in the mocks. Resitting in a fortnight or so. Luckily, my other modules were very high A's and so kept the average up. My friend wasn't so lucky. AAU got her a C overall.(Original post by mxox)
same as
but i have one coursework module so its just 2 in june! i got two high As and a high C for the AS modules bringing it to a low A.
