Re: Would you feel like a failure if you didn't get into OxBridge? No, I saw myself as a failure at the time. I failed to get in, but as I said, I got over it.(Original post by DirtyHarry)
So you see yourself as a failure because of it?

Re: Would you feel like a failure if you didn't get into OxBridge?
I would have done, had I failed, yes. Because, well, by definition failing something (in this case an application) makes one a failure...
But less pedantically: although I hadn't thought much of my chances before interview (deciding to even apply to Cambridge was a last-minute sort of thing, really, not a long-term goal), afterwards, I did feel more confident. And I was really fairly unsure about my second-choice, Durham, having not liked it all that much on an open-day (to those saying: 'why on earth make it a backup, then?', that's beyond this post) so I would have felt pretty bad if I hadn't gotten the offer, or if I had missed it at exam-time. But probably not for long, assuming Durham had worked out OK. -
Re: Would you feel like a failure if you didn't get into OxBridge?Yes, pretty much.(Original post by addie)
I bet everything is so competitive there.
Yes...because, not to put to fine a point on it, they mostly are. Not, of course, that they're the only ones, though.who thinktherethey're really brainy
Some, yes. But not all.I can only imagine there full of stuck up snobs -
Re: Would you feel like a failure if you didn't get into OxBridge? What a horrible thing to say. We're people too you know - you can't just make some ignorant blanket statement about thousands of people like that. I can't think what we've ever done to make you want to hurt us over the internet, but really, try to resist.(Original post by addie)
Ive never even considered them. I can only imagine there full of stuck up snobs, who think there really brainy. I bet everything is so competitive there.
Besides, you're completely wrong.
