Referencing style- Sociology

Hi there,

I am beginning a postgraduate course in York's sociology department this autumn and I was just wondering what referencing style the department uses?

At my current university we use Harvard style (Author, date within the text) and I wondering (and hoping) whether the sociology department at York uses the same style?

I have searched online for the referencing system that York uses but its such an obscure thing to want to know, I thought it would be best to ask current students.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello:

I will also be doing my postgraduate work in Sociology (actually half in sociology and half in Women's Studies). Both use the Harvard style as well.

I've never done footnote/endnote referencing and didn't particularly want to learn!!
