Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone?
Well I've received a letter from them today offering me a place starting 3rd September!
"This offer is subject to confirmation of your examination results, a satisfactory medical examination including drug screening, together with a Background Check and Criminal Check."
Seems weird that I've received this letter, dated 16th July, when my medical was on the 13th and they've already seen my examination results - I'm guessing it's just a templated letter? Nothing to worry about with the checks either, had to do enhanced CRB checks (one this year and one last year) for my current job anyway.
Going to ring them tomorrow as confirmation that I've received the letter, and see if I can get a bit more information out of them - it says that:
"Unfortunately, at the moment I am unable to confirm the location of your training and appreciate how eager you will be to find this out. This decision will depend on the geographic spread of all successful applicants and the breakdown in terms of field discipline."
This is something where I need to know more information. I need to know where I'm going and what discipline they want me to go in to, as that will actually affect my decision somewhat, and should I need to sort out my current job status i.e. notice period (which where I am, is pushing it as it is already...).
Anyone else heard news back? -
Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone?
Well done!
I also have a confirmed place on the scheme. I was told that it could be into August when we find out our training locations. They have to sort out the logistics for several people nationwide. So we must be patient
So excited to find out though! Process for me hopefully, as it is quite chemistry-based.
Where are you currently located? -
Conveniantly located to easy access to the Southern North Sea. I'd be surprised if you arent taking a helicopter trip from norwich heliport or great yarmouth heliport in 2 years time ;-)(Original post by Benneh1)
Currently I live in Norwich (East Anglia), so going to be quite a change of location for me either way!

Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone?Yeah i did. I have pulled out of the flat. Lost my £250 deposit but it's better than being tied into a huge contract for rent. So hopefully i get in but if not I can always go back to college and do my 2nd year and get my HND I suppose.(Original post by char84)

This is the second time I have applied though. -
You've made the right decision. I know its a gamble as opito could go either way, but, if it does go your way it wont be jeopardised by a housing contract. I dont know your personal situation but if you don get in you could find another place/go back to parents. Could just be you made the wisest choice of ya life. Second time lucky!(Original post by xperty)

Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone?
Notice of resignation handed in with my current employer, should give me a week or so before the start date to get things in order.
Had a chat with Maureen Hunter on the phone yesterday which cleared up a lot of things for me, so definitely advise people to give her a call for a quick chat if you're unsure on anything!
And best of luck to those still going through the process! -
Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone?no, at ECITB there are 2 interviews this year... one which took place the first 2 weeks of July which is only with ECITB, then if you make it through that... you go onto the 2nd interview which is during 1st week of August, up in Aberdeen with both ECITB and the Sponsor company.(Original post by char84)

If you then make it through the 2nd interview it all goes down to passing the medical or not
Just a tense wait just now, to see if i've actually passed the 1st interview
haha

Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone?Did she say anything more on when people will be placed into disciplines? My notice is going in on Monday, plus I have three weeks leave left to take so will only actually work for one week of my 4 week notice(Original post by Benneh1)

Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone? They're still finishing up the interviews from what she said to me, but it should be a couple of weeks before we hear disciplines etc.(Original post by Nameismark87)

Lucky with the annual leave - I was self-employed contracting here before being taken on permanently around April, if it counted the contracting time then I wouldn't be working another day!
