Ive just turned 21 mate. I was worried i'd be knocked back for my age but it just goes to show they're quite open minded with applicants, seems to be a vast range of ages on here.
Im just waiting to hear back about which discipline i'll be allocated to, can't remember what my preferences were at all ha. -

Aw yeah they really are open minded about age, there was a guy well into his 30's at portlethen waiting to be interviewed at the same time me so age should hold nobody back!
I actually got through last year but failed the medical because of a wee hospital visit before it, was totally gutted!!! but went back to college and done HNC Electrical Engineering and applied again and passed the medical this time woo!!
Haha i forgot mine last year too, knew electrical was my first but that was all!
Im just waiting on my disipline too, my first was instruments this year so really hoping for that!
Where are you from buddy?? -
Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone?I'm going to be 25 in October so looks like there's a few older people compared to previous years. My first choice is instrument too, would be good to have someone my age in the same discipline!(Original post by Keezo)
Thanks mate, congrats too you too!

I put instrument down as my first choice and have been offered a place but still don't know about which discipline I'll get :/ but will see you guys in Edinburgh hopefully
btw, college starts on September 3rd but if we're staying in halls, anyone know when we move in there?

I've got a HNC in Engineering Systems through my current job so I think that may have bode well with me this time round.
Hopefully I put Intrument as my first, the college is within spitting distance ha.
Im just beside the Jewel & Esk in Dalkeith. What about you? -

Lol that would be great if you did get instruments then eh!? I think your location is taken into account for your disciplin though so u may be in with a good shout!
Im in Dunfermline (fife) so not too far from jewel & esk, maybe an hour
Currently sunning it up in Rome just now so kinda hoping there will be a letter telling me my discipline when i get back

Re: OPITO Apprenticeship - Anyone?
im not going to lie, I feel its not looking good for me at all now..
Still no email telling me what my result from interview was,
So yeah, i don't even know - but losing the little confidence that I even had in the first place now - this has been such a long wait - it's dragged in
Well done to the others though

My brother did the instrumentation course 4 years ago and they had 6 weeks off each year. One week in October, two weeks at Christmas, one week for Easter and two weeks in July for summer. But I think our second year will be a bit different as we're only there for 9 months in the second year whereas they were there until the end of August.(Original post by Keezo)
