My brother did the instrumentation course 4 years ago and they had 6 weeks off each year. One week in October, two weeks at Christmas, one week for Easter and two weeks in July for summer. But I think our second year will be a bit different as we're only there for 9 months in the second year whereas they were there until the end of August.

Aw thats not too bad though, at least we get time off for a wee holiday etc inbetween!

Shouldnt be long untill we find out our disciplines now i wouldn't think!

I currently stay in Grangemouth Central Scotland and had my interview on the 31st of July, the interviewer told me the discipline for Control is at Jewel and Esk in Edinburgh. What I was wondering is I stay about 40miles away and checked travel plans and I will have to get a train then a 2 buses out to the campus in Dalkeith. Does anyone know if they will class this as difficult commuting as the train and bus tickets will cost me around £15 per day equalling £75 for 5 days a week travelling aswell as I think 1+ hours travelling time. It said on the letter they give you an income of £400 per month but most of this will go on travel for me does anyone think they will offer me digs in Edinburgh as I dont want to have to get a part time job as this is not recommended in the letter I received. Any info/opinions would be great.

I'm pretty sure they'll let you stay there coz some people that were in my brothers year doing control lived just on the outskirts of Edinburgh and were still offered accommodation but turned it down. So I think you get offered it regardless and then you decided if its worthwhile staying there.

All that information is on your letter.
It didnt say on the letter, my letter just said "This offer is subject to confirmation of your examination results, a satisfactory medical examination including drug screening, together with a Background Check and Criminal Check." etc.

Did you not get a load of information when you got the letter for your interview? You get a choice of staying mon-fri or 7 days a week.
