whats the difference between colour and flavour?

also, is there such a thing as "colour change"?

ahh, i have PHY3 tomorrow i can't believe i still don't get this
Flavour is the type of quark (ie Top, Bottom, Strange, Charmed etc.)

Colour is a kind of charge (as in electric charge) but there three types of it and it relates to the strong interaction, its nothing to do with colour that you see.

I dont think you need to know much more than that but heres wikipedia to the rescue if your interested :smile:
If you like to know a little more detail, look up the groups SU(2) SU(2) and SU(3) SU(3) on wikipedia. Those pages should have reams of info about flavour and colour.

I think the colors are not important it is just to help to visualize them all you need to know the types up down strange and top bottom charm
Orange is a colour and a flavour!

They should have kept the flavours as strawberry vanilla and chocolate instead of top bottom etc.
