Default The TSR General Election

Welcome to the 2008 TSR General Election! Roll up, roll up, and vote away for any of our fine candidates and parties. Manifestos below!

TSR Liberal Democrats

Climate change is the most pressing issue globally. The Liberal Democrats will put forward our plan to deal with these issues. We will make real investments in renewable energy, funded by green taxes, which factor in the true environmental cost of damaging behaviour to the environment by businesses and individuals.

We will stand up for civil liberties, stopping both businesses and government from infringing on individual rights for freedom. We will stop ID cards, stop increased detention without charge and stop invasion into personal details by companies.

We will drive forward responsible deregulation of business, without risking fundamental services, such as health and education. Both are vital to Britain’s future, so we will look to deal with the real issues that face the NHS, making it about the patients, not targets. In education, we will stop formalized testing for young children: to help them enjoy learning, not learn to complete tests.

The tax system needs serious reform, so we shall seek to simplify the tax system: remove council tax, replace it with a local income tax, and with the money raised from green taxes help those on low incomes, in need of the most support, by reinstating the 10p tax rate.

Finally, we will seek to make a real difference for students like us: to get rid of tuition fees, and help more people get into the further education or training which is right for them.

Vote Liberal Democrats - For a fairer, greener, and safer Britain.

The TSR Socialist Party
"TSR's real left wing party - fighting for Compassion and Equality "

The TSR Socialist party was the only party to fight for the left wing values of compassion and equality.

While Labour and the rest fought for a watered-down Human Rights bill, The Socialist Party pressed the rights of every human being.

While Labour and the rest attempted to abolish worker’s rights to a day off work each week, The Socialist Party blocked the move.

While Labour (and others) stayed quiet on 90 day detention, The Socialist Party attacked the Tories’ plans to erode civil liberties.

While other parties basked in the wave of anti-Europe sentiment,The Socialist Party ratified the European treaty, demonstrating our commitment to cooperation and tolerance on an International scale.

Vote for Compassion:

-We will put an end to genocide in Darfur by whatever means necessary. We’ll use our troops to save innocent lives, not oil profits.

-We will introduce a bill to tackle teenage depression in schools by mandating that all schools have a trained counsellor.

-We will invest millions of pounds into scarcely funded charities like Cancer Research.

Vote for Equality:

-We will raise income tax on the current top rate of tax by 10% to 50%.

-We will tax the super-rich 65% on earnings over £200,000, and use the funds to create an NHS we can all be proud of.

-We will raise corporation tax.

-We will fight selection in our schools, and strive to make all British schools world-class, not just those in privileged areas. We’ll abolish charitable status for private schools.

The TSR Conservative Party
The Conservative Party believes liberty, economic freedom and personal rights.

We believe in small government and hope to reduce unnecessary legislation and interference. We strongly opposed Labour’s tokenistic and wasteful alcohol labelling law. We aim to reduce red tape where possible to allow those serving the citizens of this country to do just that rather than serving the administrators of Whitehall.

We believe strongly in individual freedom and civil liberties. To that end we successfully repealed the indefensible ASBO to ensure that people are only imprisoned for illegal acts. We opposed the Liberal Democrats’ attempt to bar judges from taking all facts into account when dealing with criminal prosecutions.

We also strive to protect vulnerable members of society. As such we have been vehement in our opposition to Labour plans to create a 7 day working week by scrapping Sunday trading laws.

If elected we will continue to safeguard civil liberties and economic self determination. A free economy is a successful economy. And free people are prosperous people.

We will reform the NHS to improve the standard of healthcare for all citizens. We will overhaul the draconian anti-terror legislation to protect civil liberties while simultaneously ensuring the safety of the people of Britain.

The current government managed to keep only one of their pre-election promises. We will keep ours.

Vote for a better future – vote Conservative.

Daniel_Williams (Manifesto - Independent MP)

Daniel_Williams

a more independent outlook for TSR

As a former speaker for TSR House of commons and MP for MRLP I know what is required for the position, having written the House of Commons constitution myself, if elected as an Independent MP I will continue the work on this and help it evolve.

From an independent perspective I can step back and make sound judgements on what is better for the masses rather than those who have a political stance and will vote in line with the views of their party.

I want to work on bills for education, crime and the environment. I feel strongly about bills linked with education because of the nature of the website we are all using, I will debate and push for the best deal for students and for those of you that don't really have a following in politics.

Whilst I can debate my strengths are in my ability to pick fault and push for clarity and details down to the smallest level to ensure it’s the best it can be.

A vote for me is a vote of assurance, the assurance being that you'll get an independent view on matters that will benefit the most people it possibly can without any political bias.

Birchington - Independent
Hi, I'm Birchington, and I've chosen to stand as an independent candidate. I'm currently a student with a passionate interest in politics. I have only been a member of TSR for two months, and this is the first time I have participated in an election. However, I would love to take part in the TSR HoC and the level of passion that I will bring if elected will offer a refreshing approach to my role as an MP.

You may ask yourself why I am running as an Independent. The crux of the matter is that I wish to represent my views and beliefs, but also those of the people who I represent. Being part of a larger party does not give me this freedom.

Ultimately, I would like to be there to represent people in the HoC who do not want a candidate that is restricted by being a member of a party. What is important is what you tell me - give me your input and I will try to represent you within Parliament. I will represent you, the people, not some faceless party with it's own interests.

If you would like to know any more about me, feel free to PM me either before, during or after the election with your queries and I will be happy to respond.

Working for PEOPLE AND LIVES, NOT SPIN AND STATISTICS; LISTENING, NOT DIRECTING - This unique approach that I will bring can only be fulfilled with YOUR votes, so please vote for me, Birchington - THE Independent for TSR

The TSR Monster Raving Loony PartyThe MRLP believe parties shouldn’t limit themselves to right or left wing. They should have both, otherwise they’ll find it difficult to fly in a straight line.

Or, like the Monster Raving Loony Party, they should be completely round the bend!

We may be loony, but we have important ideas to improve the country.

We believe in:
Equality: The Isle of Mann will be renamed "The Isle of Men, Women, Children and some Animals" and the Isle of Wight, "The Isle of Mixed Races, and Cultures Located off the Coast of Britain."
Stimulating the economy: We’ll make Windsor Castle a bouncy castle to attract more tourists, and give economists roller skates to combat economic slow down.
Improving the health system: The MRLP recognise that a large proportion of the population suffer from chronic pain without aid from the NHS. Chocolate should be available free on repeat prescription to ease PMS suffering.
Making immigration fairer and ensuring Britain benefits: Asylum seekers would be allowed to stay provided they can tell a good joke
Better relations with Europe: The phrase "spending a penny" will be irrelevant and in order to prepare Britain to join the single currency, we will encourage the use of the correct terminology, which is "euronating".
And, of course, policies that are just plain common sense: The Channel Tunnel will be declared a No Fly Zone.

For a government which will improve the country and bring a smile to everyone’s face, vote Monster Raving Loony!

The TSR Libertarian Party

In our last two terms we have passed very important bills in keeping with our party’s ideals and philosophies, and delivering on our previous election promises. These include:

- Abolishing ID Cards
- Repealing Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act
- Abolishing Inheritance Tax
- Repealing Incitement to religious hatred legislation
- Environmental legislation, notably the Container Bill.
- Scrapping London 2012 Olympics logo.
- Repealing parts of smoking ban.
- Making euthanasia legislation more lenient.
- Making legislation surrounding brothels more lenient.

We stress that we are also the only party dedicated to promoting what would be regarded as traditional Tory values, especially with regards to the economy and a more responsible society.

Encourage competition between schools.

Free up markets currently obstructed by unnecessary regulation.

Fully embrace market forces in trying to improve matters (internalising externalities including clean energy)

Much lower, more simplified tax system, help remove an unnecessary burden on the British people, fostering a freer economy.

Pledge for workable repeal to legalisation of cannabis and various other drugs. Cutting down on speed cameras et al. Repeal hunting ban

Absolute freedom of speech, except with incitement to murder or imminent violence.

Against unnecessary military intervention, support a stronger, more proactive UN.

A functional NHS.

Points system surrounding immigration, reflect the economic needs of the UK

Encourage people to take jobs if they are available - even if we get unemployed PhDs working at McDonalds by removing benefits for those who refuse.

The TSR Labour Party

What does the TSR Labour Party stand for?

The TSR Labour party takes pride in distancing itself from the shoddy branch of left wing politics that New Labour advocates today. TSR Labour believes in equality. A society in which every child has fair and equal access to high standards of healthcare, education and local government services. Regardless of background, every person in a TSR Labour society is valuable and will be supported by the government.

We stand for the rights of society as a whole as well as the rights of the individual. We bear in mind the needs of the population and produce bills both to enhance peoples' lives whilst also protecting them, as is evident in our International Enforcement of Human Rights bill.

What else?

We have:
What next?

At the moment we are drawing up bills to re-assess the EMA system, install drinking fountains in urban centers nationwide and improve childcare facilities. We want to improve postgraduate funding making it easier for those who want to study beyond a first degree. We plan to continue our efforts to increase recycling in the UK both in industry and in the home and make the United Kingdom a greener country.

There ain't no party like the Labour Party.

Oh, and why is Birchington treating this like it's a real election?

I always thought the point of model Parliaments were to teach young kids what the parties thought, and how democracy works. Some people are starting to make it look like these are positions of some power or prestige. Like they'll stick it on CVs. Weird.

That is an absolute lie. The issue was about people who already work 7 days having to work extra hours on the Sunday.

I will also note that Jangrafess made it perfectly clear that Labour would not be supporting any bill where the maximum detention limit for terrorists was greater than 28 days.

If you're going to attack other parties, (which I notice no other party has done) at least get it right.
