Welcome to Exams and Qualifications
This forum is designated for all discussion of exams and courses from Key Stage 3 to degree level. Please take a moment to read the forum guidelines and information before posting.
Posting
New threads will stand a far better chance of being answered fully if they are posted in the correct forum. There are separate sub-forums for all of the main examination levels:
GCSE
Advanced Level: AS, A2 and VCE
IB (International Baccalaureate)
Scottish Qualifications (Standard, Higher, Advanced Higher etc.)
Further Education and other Courses (BTEC etc.)
If the exam or qualification that you wish to discuss does not come under any of these categories, then post it in the main forum and it will be moved if necessary.
Exams and Qualifications is self-explanatory: post here for all discussion of individual exams, choosing subjects, revision advice and so forth. There are two other main areas on TSR for academia and related issues.
General Secondary and Sixth Form Discussion covers all of the non-specific academic queries, such as choosing a school, social life and organisation. Alternatively, you may post in the
Academic Help forums for specific subject advice (e.g. solving maths problems, approaching a particular essay, explaining theory). There is
Arts and Humanities;
Maths, Science and Technology and
Social Science, each with sub-forums for individual subjects. Before posting, check to make sure that you are doing so in the most suitable forum.
In a forum concerned with different exam boards and a plethora of subjects and syllabuses, it is very simple for details to become confused. To avoid this, always be specific and clear in thread titles: it is recommended that you always state the
exam board, assessment level, and full subject name when doing so. It is also helpful to add in the exam date where necessary. A sensible title would be
AQA A2 English Language B, 16th June.
Past papers
These are a very useful revision resource and you may request these on the forums. Before doing so, check on the exam boards' websites as some publish this material free of charge for candidates and teachers in PDF format. If you cannot locate the paper you would like on the websites or by using the search function on TSR, then post your request in the
designated threads at the top of the exams sub-forums. All separate threads will be merged into these by a moderator.
When dealing with past papers and similar material, please ensure that you respect Copyright laws. Do not upload material that has clearly not been distributed for this use by the exam boards to the forum. However, it is permitted to link to papers that are externally-located.
Edexcel and CIE exams
Edexcel International (London Examinations) and CIE (University of Cambridge International Examinations) set papers that are taken around the world at different times. To discourage malpractice and to make the exams as fair as possible, TSR operates a policy to close any threads about these papers until 12 hours (Edexcel) or 24 hours (CIE) have passed at the end of the exam timings.
FOR EDEXCEL
Morning exams may not be discussed until 12.00am (GMT) and afternoon exams until 4.30am (GMT)
FOR CIE
Morning exams may not be discussed until 1.00pm (GMT) and afternoon exams until 6.00pm (GMT)
'Discussion' refers to
any comment on the exam that is in progress, ranging from 'It went well' to 'Question 2 on human health and disease was difficult'. Anyone found to be breaking this rule on TSR, whether in the forums or via Private Messaging will receive a serious warning and risks being banned from the site. Users are kindly asked to assist the moderators by reporting any such instances of discussion that they come across. Threads that have been checked by the moderators and deemed appropriate for discussion are given the title tag
Edexcel exam - 12 hours passed.
General
The same rules apply to this forum that are in place on the rest of TSR. Spamming, trolling and offensiveness are unproductive and will be dealt with accordingly by the moderation team. Please remember to write out posts in full English, as text speak is not allowed here.
Have a look at
TSR Wiki for revision notes and tips in hard copy - but since it is unhealthy to revise for the whole day, be sure to pop into
Chat or one of the other less work-intensive forums!
Many thanks and best of luck to all who are studying for exams
