Structuring GCSE revision starting from middle of this half term

Poll

How long should i be revision each day?

So guys, im wondering how i should be revising subjects altogether, like 1 subject a day or whatever and also for how long. I have 3 weeks of exams after these 5 days, so i need to make this vitally important time useful. Thank you.

I do 2 to 4 hours a day. Sometimes if I'm feeling especially work-conscious I'll do about 5 hours although that's about once a week, haha. Don't do too much because you don't want your brain to be zapped of all its energy, but don't become too apathetic either because your results may suffer as a result.

I always work out all the topics that I need to revise, and then split them equally between the days I have left. I wouldn't adivse you planning according to time - you may never finish the course  I know I wouldn't anyway - I'd spend far too long on subjects I liked!

What does the poll mean? Hours you're meant to be revising per day, or hours you're meant to spend per subject? :s-smilie:

I say 4-5 hours a day is plenty. More if you feel like it, but don't plan it.

im thinking of 10 hours at library would be good since ive wasted so much time lately without revising properly, such as my german reading and listening, i had a whole day to revise for the exam and was planning to do at least 6... i wasted all the time... and also i kinda wasted like 2 or 3 hours on studentroom with some stupid rhyming thread i made.....

I try to plan for 3-4 but I always end up with only 1-2 good hours of revision being done(or sometimes even less..=/).
I just can't concentrate, i always find myself doodling while revising. ^^;;;
I usually give myself a rough aim of how much to complete a day rather than time though.XD

I am relying on the day before the exam to revise..XD Not a good idea I know but I can't concentrate and revise.>__<.

just get up at normal school time:
start at 9:00
do an hour, have 30mins off
an hour 30mins off
etc
take one hour off for lunch
have from like 9:00pm onwards off

voila! six hours a day  (at least)

i like how you think, apart from that ill be at home for those 6 hours of a school schedule, and without the presense of a teaching specialist, my electronic communication devices will drive me towards its doom and destruction which will lead to me failure and sadness which will fill my gloomy life.

Usually do 4 hours. Best thing I find is to work for 2 hours in the morning and another 2 in the afternoon. During the day whilst I'm not revising - I usually think about what im learning or read the revision book casually. It's a hard life :p:

i tend to do my revision in the evenings, so i don't feel like i'm trapped in revision all day.

depending on how ready you feel for the exams, i'd say 2 or 3 hours a day with lots of breaks, spending more time on your weaker subjects.

i try not to plan revision, because i never do it then, i just randomly think "right i should do some revision now" and do it.

if you find yourself on the internet messing about, have bitesize open in another tab/window and fit your revision around tsr/msn/whatever you happen to be doing. at least then you feel like you've done a tiny bit of revision!
My problem is that I can't have breaks. I find it difficult to start revising, but when I do, I can't stop until I've finished what I had planned for the day, so I tend to do it in chunks, which isnt a good idea. I started revising yesterday, with one day for each subject, with six exams in the first week back. I did 6 solid hours of history yesterday, with a 15 minute break in between, and I've done 4 hours of solid chemistry today. Tomorrow is a solid day of geography.

I wish i was never brought up in such a day and age in which there are such things as computers and other electronic devices to name a few, and so i can value how important education really is and so i will run towards that bright light at the end of tunnel and into success

I haven't done any yet so thought I'd better get it over with. Lots of revision to do as I've still got 12 exams to go, and haven't done any revision. Thank God the maths exam is first, as I don't really need to do a lot for that exam.

I did do this last week for english lit, but was absolutely shattered on the day of the exam so wouldn't recommend it.

thats why its funny, you revise so much you cant work anymore. it feels good to do loads of revision but sometimes youve done so much all of it kinda has leaked out the next day making it completely useless having revised all that time
