My exam is on tuesday and I have beenn studying 2 artists and 2 fashion/textile designers as I think that is what you need to know but the exam changed in 2007 and I don't know if every year the Fantasy & Imagination question will come up or the Fashion/Textile design. Could anybody please tell me if studying two Fashion desingers and 2 Artists under the category of Fantasy and Imagination is enough? any help would be great, thanks.

i think u will be safe as im doing 2 from each of my two movements, however they are different, just for the safe side ask ur teacher

I think it should be fine as I looked through the past paper and those sections have always been covered. I got a B in the prelim but obviously that is without the practical work, how did u get on?

art is my strongest subject so i only droped 2 points

i enjoy it especially the expressive - i done natural evironment - coast, enjoy certain design units this year was good as i done graphic on a poster for the cairngorm national park

in our school we dont do standard grade art so went straight to int2 and i got an A1 (last year) and 77/80 for expressive, 69/80 foe design 39/40 for writing so overall really good

i fancy doing something art related either teaching or architecture - im going 2 try an architecture folio for AH

What do u fancy doing?

I done a river type theme for the expressive and in the desing we could chose to design jewelery or clothing, I chose clothing. I found it a bit of a rush to get everything done but it was quite enjoyable when things came together, I wish we had been properly told what we were doing right from the start which would have been a benifit because I could have got started straight away and I think we should have went straight into Int 2 also as it's more similar to higher.

I'm not sure what I am going to do but I doubt it will be art related, I done it basically for an extra higher and in the column we had to choose from there wasn't much option but I think architecture would be interesting, will need to see my marks for this years subjects though.

Yep. I'm doing 2 artists (Matisse + Picasso) and 2 Jewellery designers (Rene Lalique + Amy Anthony(Contemp))
As far as I know its not any more complicated than that. Just two essays on the artists/designers and the two critical evaluation thingys.

I hope its not, cause I've not been told about it! o_o

when it asks to describe a 'figure composition' can you use a portrait?

I dunno how far they'll let you go with it.

And If I remember correctly, you only answer the sections that correspond to the area you studied in your coursework.

How did everyone find it ? I thought it was okay I think I have done better in the bits that I studied like writing about artists and designers, the evaluation bit on the pictures was okay I suppose .

i thought it went ok too, nothing too hard but i had a total mind blank on one of my movements but got round it ok

Hey, i sat the exam but sadly it cud have went better. im not entirely sure how i did but it wasnt the best. the written part isnt exactly my strong point.

is it true that you have to pass the written exam to gain any award? and that they dont even take yuor expressive or design work into account if u fail the written?

You have probaly done okay what did you get in the prelim? That isn't true, you get points for each section (we did 2 seats in expressive & design so the points are out of a certain amount for each sheet - the final outcome being worth more) and the points are all added up including your writing part to give you a makr out of around 220 I think.
