Re: Chinese people, welcome! [中國人, 歡迎你!] [中国人, 欢迎你!]East London huh, somewhere near where I'm staying. Well, depending on your budget though.(Original post by alex_hk90)
Yeah, I can distinguish the sounds, and I'm OK if it's a word I've learnt before, but just sometimes with new words with those initials I struggle.
Yeah, just repeat it for any other new words, it works the same.
I'm so jealous.

Haha ! Cantonese is easy to pick up when you can speak Mandarin.
Where are you house hunting? I need to find a place in London near Canary Wharf to move in around September, do you know the area (i.e. do you have any recommendations on where I should look)?

Are you looking for temporary accommodation for the summer? If so i know LSE rent out rooms in their halls for tourists over the summer.
I'm looking for a permanent for 10 months stay.
Same. Well, actually i went but the teaching was just terrible and i never learnt anything. Would have loved to carry on going if it were actually useful :/

Re: Chinese people, welcome! [中國人, 歡迎你!] [中国人, 欢迎你!]As a guide, something around £150 a week (including council tax and utilities), probably sharing with a few others.(Original post by purpliie)

the only time I speak chinese is with my relatives when we visit every 2 years, lots of awkward pauses because I can't get words out.
Might pick it up at uni thoughLast edited by Brand New Eyes; 22-05-2012 at 15:37. -
Re: Chinese people, welcome! [中國人, 歡迎你!] [中国人, 欢迎你!]You're sharing a room with few others? :O(Original post by alex_hk90)
As a guide, something around £150 a week (including council tax and utilities), probably sharing with a few others.
The price is about there but sometimes you can find something slightly lower like £135/140 for double room. Then again, depends on the agent/landlord and also the furniture inside. -
Re: Chinese people, welcome! [中國人, 歡迎你!] [中国人, 欢迎你!]Sorry, I meant sharing a house/flat (so utilities and council tax will be split) rather than sharing a room.(Original post by purpliie)

Re: Chinese people, welcome! [中國人, 歡迎你!] [中国人, 欢迎你!]Oh, Ok ! So have you found 1 ? Canary Wharf is a really nice place although is in East London. A lot of offices and tall buildings are there, well basically the only place in London with these skyscrappers. KPMG, Citibank and etc are here.(Original post by alex_hk90)

Re: Chinese people, welcome! [中國人, 歡迎你!] [中国人, 欢迎你!]I wouldn't really classify CW as East London. Geographically yes but I've always associated more with Docklands/City area really(Original post by purpliie)

Re: Chinese people, welcome! [中國人, 歡迎你!] [中国人, 欢迎你!]I haven't found one yet, but I'm planning on finding one with a few other people (probably from work). And yeah I liked the Canary Wharft area when I went for the assessment centre and final interview.(Original post by purpliie)

Re: Chinese people, welcome! [中國人, 歡迎你!] [中国人, 欢迎你!]I like it there too but money in my bank account doesn't allow me to pay for the rent.(Original post by alex_hk90)

So, I gotta look for somewhere cheaper. Canary Wharf is definitely a great place to live, If only I have the money.

Having a rough time in house hunting.
