As it's been a while since you posted and nobody's responded, maybe you want to check out our sister site -Coursework.Info - the UK's largest academic coursework library.
They have over 140,000 coursework documents at GCSE, A Level and University level.
I am an automated bot who posts this jolly helpful message in our academic forums on behalf of the owners of both The Student Room and Coursework.Info when posts don't get a quick response.
Hopefully you'll find my advice useful, otherwise my existence is even more futile than it already feels.
Nah ignore the bot SylverStrike haha...I guess we're all too busy learning our Virgils, Ciceros, Tacitus and everything else lol. I've got chemistry on the same day, OCR aren't very good at timetabling their exams tbh :P

Eugh, that sounds painful! Chemistry AND Latin! Sheesh!

It's Virgil for me- Aeneid Book 12. You?
Yeah definitely, but luckily chemistry is not too heavy on the learning sheets upon sheets of translation :P I've got Book 12 as well, woot! Our school does this weird half and half thing, so we do half of Book XII and half of the Pro Roscio by Cicero.

Good luck with it on wed, I'm sure you'll ace it
God, the translation...Whenever I tell people what the Latin course entails, they always say (in regards to having to learn pages and pages off by heart) 'how is that learning how to translate Latin, if you're just learning it off by heart?' They have a point.
I think we do Cicero next year...But I'm not entirely sure. The year 13 texts might be different from the year 12 ones.
Good luck to you too! Not sure about acing it, though...

Yeh i completely agree, I'm pretending to learn the Cicero right now, and it is just memorising. And the time pressure is ridiculous...do you sorta wish that you could transfer some of the time from the language papers to your set text? Nah I'm sure you'll ace it, you must deffo be clever enough seeing as we're one of the few who actually decided to take it up for AS...I spose classics teachers will feel we're the future of the subject or whatever hehe

Yeah, I haven't really revised it properly yet, but I've got two whole days of just sitting on my bed, learning pages and pages off by heart to look forward to.
I'm actually pretty bad at Unseen Translation, usually get a B or scrape an A, so I'm worried about that too.
Well, I wouldn't say it's a case of being clever- there's about fifteen in our Latin class, and we're a state school so it makes it even stranger. The only reason is because we have two amazing Latin teachers (who are married- it's scary!) and so people usually take the subject on just because of them.
All the vocab as well...It's just too much to learn. And I can't be bothered any more.

Are you carrying it on next year?
Yeh I completely agree, Latin is very difficult- I've jsut remembered that horrible vocab list I still hvnt touched. Wow married latin teachers (are they inbreeding P); well we have a teacher who (apparently) has nipple rings with a chain across them! I dont wanna believe it lol...
I'm gonna try and see if I can carry it on, coz its my AS option atm. Weird thing is I'm Sri Lankan so technically I'm not meant to like latin :P How bout you?

I think they might be inbreeding. Their son has a Latin degree, too.
Your Latin teacher sounds very interesting.
Sri Lankan? Cool. We've got a girl in our Sixth Form from Sri Lanka, and she's so lovely. Always smiley and happy, and very intelligent. But why aren't Sri Lankans meant to like Latin?
Yeah, I'll probably carry it on just because it's okay in terms of getting a reasonable grade in it (unlike something like Physics, which is so much easier to fail at.)

Nah jk, I guess it doesn't exactly fit into the asian stereotype. The thing is I came here 6 years ago or so, and Latin was deffo the last subject I thought I'd end up doing, bt there we are.
Oh god, physics hehe. I decided not to do it and chose biology instead.

Oh, lol, I see what you mean. Latin is just one of those strange subjects though, isn't it?
yeah nearly there, but I've got 11 papes this week so I guess its gonna be a bit of a drag. And thanks for the mutual procrastination hehe, its gd to talk bout theses things, the best way to procrastinate
Hey...I shall be joining you lot on the Latin suffering front along with my A's....dreadful. Tacitus is the bane of my life...and that vocab list remains untouched...could quite possibly quote you a bit of Virgil though! Good luck to all! xx

High five indeed. I think all of us haven't touched our vocab lists in quite a while so its all gd :P I think I've lost mine actually...oh gr8 I found it...*groan*
Are you all learning your literature as a shpeal (spelling?) in English, or with the Latin? Ive done Virgil now...I think Tacitus will actually be the death of me.
Anyone done much essay practise? Im gointo go mark scheme hunting!
