I have a week left to decide what to wear for a long haul flight and the pressure is getting to me about it!! I've decided that i'd be most comfortable in a jersey material dress, not cotton or shirt dresses or anything, with a nice cardigan and some leggings. (Leggings and cardigan so that i will be warm enough in the UK and then i can whip them off before we arrive at our destination.
So far i've come across this French Connection dress, which is £45 and it looks super comfy:
I was thinking this would look cute with some coloured leggings, perhaps pink! and a matching colour cardigan.
What do you think? Do you reckon another colour than pink would look nicer?
HOWEVER, it's £45 i'd have to spend, as well as money on the leggings and cardigan, and it's just to travel in so it seems a bit of a waste as i know i wont wear the dress again on hol if ive travelled in it because it makes me feel dirty!!
Some other people have recommended these Topshop dresses, which are luckily only £25!! a lot more reasonably priced
Which is the nicest colour? Can anybody please recommend some colour combos of leggings and cardigans which would look nice? Links to cardis etc would be fab!
ORRR alternatively, if you hate these dress selections, can anyone recommend an entirely different comfy dress from somewhere which wont damage my bank account too much?
you're buying a £45 dress just to travel in?! Jeez I wish I was that rich haha. Sorry I don't really have much advice cos im not daring enough to wear pink leggings lol. And I don't really wear dresses apart from like evening ones...
Although that would look lovely, wearing leggings on a long haul flight probably isn't the best idea as it does restrict the blood flow. Have you tried looking for a similar top that you could wear either with jeans, or a more fitted top to wear with linen trousers.

no, that's why i asked if people could recommend any cheaper ones, cos i don't want to £45

For long haul you should think loose.

Oh right! lots of people had recommended leggings to me, maybe i will rethink. I definitely don't want to wear jeans though cos they're just not comfy enough for me and i don't want jeans when i get there cos i'll be on a tropical island leggings are a lot easier to disgard and shove in my handbag on arrival. Linen trousers may be a good idea though! I just always feel really comfy in dresses. I might consider a dress and no leggings then. hmmm! Thanks!
But why buy something new, no matter how much it is? I would wear linen trousers...
because i have nothing suitable..i don't just randomly own a pair of linen trousers. I have jeans which i dont want to wear cos theyre not comfy, and my other stuff is dresses that are too nice to travel in, or denim skirts or other mini skirts etc which aren't all that suitable.
If you don't want to help and just want to criticise can i suggest not posting in this thread please?

Oh, well maybe you should google it? I was under the impression that anything tight around your legs wasn't good for long haul travel
Maybe a pain of linen trousers (you won't even have to change these as they are very loose and very lightweight. I wore them all the time while in Italy as they were comfy and practical) and a more fitted vest top? In topshop they're selling 2 plain but vest tops for £9 then a slightly oversized cardi and perhaps a larger hoody/ jacket? Planes tend to get chilly because of the air con.

I have the black of the topshop dress(only from american apparel) I wore that on the flight to sweden the other week, deffo comfy enough(perhaps not warm enough for swedish weather)
I love the coral one, I'd wear with my biscuit cardi(h+m are the best) and pale grey tights but considering its to somewhere nice I'd probably lose the tights/leggings. Can you not mix it with stuff you already have, well cardi you have?

I'll do some research on it yep!
Def going to look at linen trousers cos theyd be practical while i was there too! Thanks a lot for that idea. I just need something cheap & comfy really! When i think of linen trousers i always imagine white though, i'm not sure why obviously white wont be that practical fro travelling in, so maybe i'll be able to find some black ones or something.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, flight socks/ anti-embolism stockings/ TEDs are compressed, I would think that if you buy leggings that fit then they won't reduce blood flow by any considerable amount. The compression actually reduces the risk of a DVT (clot).
Yeah, i appreciate ideas. I don't appreciate the criticism though! If i didn't need anything i wouldn't have made a thread about it. lol. And just i'd said i didn't want to spend the £45 and it felt like you were attacking me for that when i'd already posted some cheaper options too I'm open to any ideas, but i do need *something* and not just for the sake of it.

I have no cardis! (i know...what sort of person doesn't own a cardigan? lol)
But thanks for letting me know, the dresses seem a pretty good option then if they are definitely comfy I'll try h&m for cardigans, thanks!
I quite like the models outfit in the top link with the plain vest top, quite classic, comfy and inoffensive. Though the black and white colours in the second link are probably more versatile.
