Who else is doing sociology on the 12th on OCR? is it upto your college what topic your doing because a lot of people on here have been talking of a religion paper as well as crime and deviance. However, im doing crime and deviance and social inequality. Is this right?

Also, for the social inequality paper..whats everyone else focusing on revising? Theres so much it could be. Any ideas?

Religion paper is an option on AQA. Crime and Deviance is your OCR option. OCR has a Social Inequality and Difference synoptic whereas AQA's synoptic is the Crime and Deviance paper.

lol.. i would help you if i had started revising too! I've just been really stressed out with the exam today - power and control - i did popular culture and it went better than how i thought it would be.

For social inequality and difference, im just revising the whole of: class, poverty, gender and ethnivity. Just statistics and theorys mainly. Also, have a rough idea of research methods for question C.

What did you do in the exam today?

I did power and control in january and got an A, so i didnt have to resit..thank god. I just have no idea whats coming up on the exam on the 12th. What extra stuff do we need to know for the methods paper this year, i did a resit for AS methods in may so i know all of that, but i presume i need to know extra for this exam? Any ideas?
Any for social inequality and difference i dont even know where to start. I cant even work out in my notes where my crime and deviance notes end and social inequality begins haha

qualitative data is likely for research cause quantitative has come the last 4 times.
on the inequalities paper im thinking ethnicity or class

im thinking ethnicity and gender...
in january 08 poverty was one of the questions, and for the other the D question was gender and the E question was class (which is worrying if they are mixing the topics up! )
and in june 07 it was ethnicity and class, which is why i don't think class will come up a third time in a row, and ethnicity might coz its the only one which didnt come up in january jus gone.
any thoughts??

What kind of things are best to revise. when you say class and gender...theyre such broad topics....any ideas?

all they can ask about gender is the inequalities of gender
not really sure about class, maybe changes in class structure

My teachers given me a list of possible topics for question e)
- gender in the work place
-inequalities faced by women
-marxist view of class in capitalist society
-income inequality
-explanations of poverty in the underclass
-changing class structure (post capitalism)
-racial inequalities

and for question d)
-social class
-ethnicity
-ethinic minority groups suffer from racism
-social groups in poverty
-distinct upperclass and/or underclass exist
- and evidence that I is increasing? (but i have no idea whatsoever what the I stands for?)

thanks thats very helpful...ive written essays for gender, marxist views, changin class structure and racial inequailities so hopefuly il be ok.

the underclass came up in jan this year didnt it?

Im not sure.. i did crime and deviance in jan...and everything my lecturer predicted came up so hopefully hes right about this too. Its still quite a long list though, so far ive looked at marxist explanations of class and income enquality, but i think ethnicity it quite likely. He also told me that gender cam up in january, i think he means for question d) but im unsure.

How much revision have you done for it? compared to my other subjects ive done very little..

ive done hardly any aswel because ive been concentrating on psychology for a while, im gonna be up for most of the night!!
