Question Computing?

Hi all,
How useful is A-level computing in the eyes of unis/employers, specifically in a non-computing orientated job/degree such as medicine or a science?
There seems to be very little mention of computing anywhere around the forum so I was just wondering...
I have picked it because I enjoy it and think I shall do well in it, which I think is a good reason to pick even though I don't want to do a computing degree, but just in case red lights start flashing as it's not too late to change options yet!

Thanks in advance

As long as you've got the required subjects for your course, unis definitely won't mind if you have Computing, not at all. It's a good subject to have, and you should definitely do something that you enjoy for sixth form. It's respected, probably 100x more than ICT is. So I say go for it I enjoyed it!

Thank you very much!
I have a friend who does ICT... Won't repeat her opinion on it as chances are I'd be banned from the forum forever!

Haha, I'm sure I can guess I had to go through the same thing.

Yea..computing is favoured without a doubt. So much so that Cambridge consider ICT an academically inappropriate subject! :p

Computing is hella easy imo. Not much to it at all...we've finished the syllabus now and all we do is make 'documentries' about each lesson...and how we're not working in it... .

I have a very low opinion of ICT compared to computing. Computing is extremely difficult, challenging and technically complex. ICT is more business-oriented. I did ICT for one lesson and decided it was too easy, so I switched to Computing. In terms of usefulness, if you are going on to a degree, Computing would give you an excellent foundation. ICT would not.

It is, however, very very hard, be warned.
