Default wii fit

How good is it? I was thinking of getting one and cancelling my gym membership as its costing me a fortune and I dont even use it that much.

What can you do on the wii fit exactly? And how good is it in terms of improving your fitness?

I have yet to try it, but I hear it is really good at what it does, and it is a lot of fun. Although, that is the extent of what I know

The running races that you can have seem good but its effectiveness appears minimal

I'm going to get one instead of joining the gym for the summer, they want £280 for three month membership, so just getting a wii (was going to get one anyway) and wii fit and kill two birds with one stone

it is not a replacement for a gym, dont treat it as such. People that buy it will typically get bored of it quickly, theres only so much running on the spot a person can do

i dont need to lose weight or anything im skinny but very unfit i guess. thats why i think a wii fit would be better coz the only reason i go to gym is to tone up and it doesnt seem to be working in the 8 months ive been going. might as well just do some exercises on the wii fit and improve my health? lol

It won't replace proper exercise but it's good fun, and could probably keep you at the weight you are with a balanced diet.
My sister (size six, eight stone ish, five seven) plays it every day and has lost a little bit of weight I think.
Good for flexibility too as you can do yoga Quite motivational if you dislike the gym, and a good bit cheaper.

Taking a run in a park is way more effective than running on the spot. I find that the wii is light exercise but doesn't compare to a gym. But i understand the money issue's with a gym as well. And i guess the wii helps encourage exercise more.

Wii fit however concentartes more on improving balance than exercise.

It definitely isnt something you can rely on to be your main fitness regime! I have one but I bought it purely for the interest of trying out the games not to loose weight. It tells me I'm underweight some days, some days its just on normal but I know I'm fine.

When I use it I tend to play balance games for a laugh with family or friends or I do some aerobics like the hula hoop because I like that too. I rarely go into yoga or muscle exercises though. Some are pretty tough in there! It's quite good for having some fun but I wouldn't recommend it for someone wanting to shift a lot of weight or greatly improve their fitness.

You can join David Lloyd offpeak for a lot less than that. What gym is trying to rip you off, that's insane. Even the Silver DL membership is cheaper.

VERY true,
I've used mine like 4 times, tops. Once you get to your body age it sort of loses its novelty
Plus the fact that i'm 'overweight' according to it, when i'm anything but :p

It's alright for aerobic exercise, like the stepping stuff,
And the yoga stuff is alright if you're into that sort of stuff, but the "muscle training stuff" (pressups lunges etc.) is really just common sense
Would be alot cheaper to just get a yoga book, and go for a run every now and then

its a waste of time. Sure it'll probably make you breatheless for a few moments but a) youll get bored and b) its not a proper workout.
