Can't really be bothered emailing you, and the point of a forum is so people can build on eachothers responses to avoid duplication of answers. I think I have said this to most people asking for advice on what to do it on; it has to be something you find and are interested on. I know it's hard to find stuff out by yourself, but that is the idea of EPQ.. If you are considering doing a joint language degree with arabic, why not look at how the two are connected? I know that both French and Spanish have links linguistically with Arabic (spain from the Moors and French perhaps modern day immigration). Also, make sure you ask a question that can be answered with a yes or a no - you cannot achieve the highest marks without this!

Who else is doing the EPQ?
As part of the AQA Baccalaureate I have to take the Extended Project Qualification. I was wondering who else is taking it, either as part of the AQA Bacc or standalone?

I did mine on poetry and photography, so hopefully it will help me when I apply to do an English degree
What did other people do for theirs?

Also, anyone thinking about taking the EPQ - feel free to leave a message here if you want any advice/info

My idea has changed a bit. I'm now doing 'music in times of social upheaval' i.e protest songs and presentations about them. Such as: French Revolution, La Nueva cancion music in south america, jewish music in medieval spain and I'll probs chuck a bit of Bob Dylan in there for good measure :P

When students receive this qualification - what do they get? Is this an actual AS qualification? or just 'equivalent' to?

When you specialize in a subject/topic for the EPQ - will this topic be mentioned on the certificate etc?

The EPQ is an EPQ. Not a GCE AS. Just equivalent on the UCAS Tariff.

Topic is not on the results slip I received, so I doubt it'd be on the certificate.

I messed up. My presentation went really badly, all my supervisors comments were bad (i was too quiet and my presentation was boring and i used too many notes) and for my report I only wrote about 4,500 words.

I'm hoping that by doing a diary and including lots of notes will get me a few extra marks.

I hope I get at least a D or I will be very depressed. I worked so hard too! It's so frustrating, I spent most my summer hols completing it all.

Does anyone know how you enter the EPQ on UCAS? I've found it, know the exam board, etc, but don't know what the title will be... is it my question?

I need to get this sorted quickly as I want my form to go go go soon!

Re: Extended Project Ideas? - English / Psychology / History
    (Original post by pinstriped.flower)
The most crucial piece of advice that I can give you if you want to achieve a good grade in the qualification is to choose a question that can be answered with a yes or no (obviously with some elaboration). I did a 'How did...' question and I know it was the reason why I got a B, not an A

    Hope this helps!
So do you think I should change my question from "To what extent did France have an influence upon the Lisbon Treaty?" to "Did France have a [significant] influence upon the Lisbon Treaty?" I can see where you're coming from with this though, the way I've structured my essay so far it sounds as if the latter would be a better title.

Also did this happen to anyone else at your school?

There was only about 16 of us doing it, and only two of us doing anything literary and so no.. not so much. 4 people got A*s, 9 got As and 3 got Bs and so people did generally fine.. it was the first year they had offered it and my supervisor didn't really understand. Ah well, I don't regret it as unis don't really care about the grade you got, but just that you have actually done it on something interesting.

I think that both questions could work, but with the first version you need to be explicit in your conclusion about how much. It's not really the same problem as mine.. because you can quantify the result where as for me all I could really say was that I had argued throughout the essay. Meh. Up to you

Awesomeeeee, am going to put it in now. Hopefully it'll fit in the character limit...

How's everyone's going btw? I have drawn up a synopsis of basically what I'm going to put in there and started to write my introduction. I'm just doing the report, so whacking out 5K's worth of words is going to be fun.

Am enjoying the research, as all of it I find is in French it seems however my local university is letting us make use of their library which is certainly helpful! Does anyone know if you're doing AQA, if you have to evaluate the credibility of your sources?
