Re: Concerning what to take to A2
No one would consider music "soft" (well, no right minded person). You need obvious talent. Still, it's to do with how relevant a subect is. A number of unis are keen for their students to have a mixture of sciences and arts. Although most will do history, english lit etc I suppose music still does allow a student to develop their communication, critical, dexterity and memory abilities. Quite useful in architecture.
You need to be careful about not having the full A-level in art. A number of universities will be fine with this, providing you still have a decent portfolio. Most of the top ranked unis will still much prefer the A-level (plus portfolio).
My advice would be to take Art to the full A-level and keep music as the AS. Still, it also depends on university. Which ones are you looking at going to?
