Likelihood of BOS coming up in 2849 exam tomorrow?

Anyone know whether this has come up in recent years. I think it's a load of rubbish so I hope it has :biggrin:

Basic oxygen steelmaking process, I think it's in the chemical storylines book

oh right...

if it comes up it usually is more about how different metals affect the composition of steel, and how impurities are removed

there has never been a question such as 'explain the BOS process'

O good, the impurities are removed using oxygen right?

Magnesium powder is blown through to remove sulphur.
Carbon impurities are removed with oxygen.
Limestone is used to remove phosphorus impurities.

The sulphur impurites are always removed first. For AQA you need to know the reactions involved...no idea if it's the same with the other exam boards.
