a quick question before tomorrow!!!!

hey all, im having my last minute panic session, and im stuck on a few things....
are there any other Left realists apart from Lea+Young? same q goes to Right realism and Murray? also what generally does each realist think?

and as i think Suicide is gonna be the big 40 marker, how do you all remember the types of auicide such as fatalistic etc?

any last tips would be a help (general tips!)
sorry for sounding such a panic but ive got geog tomorrow too...
AND its my birthday tomorrow how rubbish is that!!!

thanks,

Left realists - the only other one i have is Kinsey

Right realism - Theres Wilson (talks about the need for harsh punishments for the smallest of crimes)

And Kelling - Who talked about the 'broken window' idea whereby damage has to be put right quickly before it gets out of hand. Also says tolerating 'broken windows' shows you can get away with crime...

I thought it was Murray who talked about 'broken windows'. Or Wilson?
In my notes i have it as Wilson + Kelling...Obv doesnt mean thats correct though!

you only need a few sentences on left and right realism anyway so stick with Lea and Young for left realism and Wilson for the right

James Q Wilson did about Broken Windows. Didn't he look at in America?
"One broken window means another broken window" = crime will flourish.

Is that Right Realism?... Along with Murray. Actually, I don't know what Murray does :s-smilie:
In fact, I don't think I know very much about realism at all.

Apart from Lea & Young for Left Realism.

I hope a question doesn't come up on this...
Looks like I'll have to try and revise this evening/tomorrow morning.
Blah.

mike brake - skinheads
s.hall- resistance through rituals
nooooooooo!
Broken Windows Theory was Wilson and Kelling (2003).
It says that there is a link between disorder and crime.
Visible signs of decay like litter, graffiti, abandoned housing, and broken windows signals public disinterest. Fear of crime is greatest in these neighbourhoods which prompts 'respectable' community members to leave and thus undermines the community's ability to maintain order, and decline follows.

It's brief, and daft, but hope it helps.
