Re: AQA Biology Exam, howd it go?
I did BYB5 and found it very easy! No statistical things or anything! I feel like I did well
Some of section B was tricky but most was alright, like the birds decreasing.
I was quite surprised by PCR but I remembered it all and mentioned electrophoresis too.
How was 4, if you did it? -

[QUOTE=moonlit_streets]Urgh, I hated that question on the toxic mines! I went with L as well...but I couldn't figure out where they were planning on planting these plants! Were they going to plant them in the pond [surely not?] or next to it, or in the food crop? Got me really confused. Spent ages staring at the paper.

EXACTLY what I did! But I put J cause they had the most seeds...???
But like, I didn't know whether the fertiliser had anything to do with whether more toxic substances blew onto the crops...
It was such an unclear question!
Mod 4 biology was a b***h though. Jeez. -
Re: AQA Biology Exam, howd it go?
Well i didnt mind unit 4 section A, most of section B was a bugger!
I didnt like unit 5, i never have with the synoptic stuff. although i managed to at least write something for every question, although the last question threw me...i knew nothing!!
In terms of % i think its like 60-65% on each paper for an A, bout 40/66 and 50/81 though im not sure.
I got a low A last year...and ideally need a B although i reckon as long as one of my other subjects is an A i can get away with a C overall, or even a D if both my other subjects are As. Does that mean for a B, overall on the A2 stuff i need to get a C, or to get a C overall i need to get a D on the A2 stuff?
Anyway, better get off to a weekend of module 8. given we never even finished to topic correctly hopefully itl b alright...although im not so sure about the essays. 2-3 days of revision hopefully might make it alright...with plenty of practice...maybe....not lol -
Re: AQA Biology Exam, howd it go?I put the one that had the most seeds. I *think* the idea was to harvest the most crop in the shortest time (before it was ruined by the crazy stuff going on with the lake). The crop in barley is the seeds so I chose the one that produced the most seeds in the given time. I hope that's right.(Original post by Rw*)
what did everyone put for the questuin about the mud lake?
i put M cos it had no seeds?? :s -
Re: AQA Biology Exam, howd it go?
I'm not sure what treatment I went for, but I went for the one with the highest growth rate and least seeds. I assumed the plants were being planted on the toxic pond. Highest growth in roots and shoots to absorb and store toxic substances from the lake. Least seeds (containing the toxins) so they don't blow away and grow somewhere else. What threw me was whether the plants they were using as treatments WERE the Barley and Rye, or if these were the crops they were protecting!
Did BYB4 too - damn that was hard. I reckon 40 marks at most.
Some of section B was tricky but most was alright, like the birds decreasing.
I did put L on that grass thing though - i said it was because they were bigger so would provide a better barrier.
