Our teachers always told us that it's easiest to get good marks on the discursive.

The tba?

I've been learning a couple of poncy-sounding phrases for the writing in registers but that's about it. I'll either do a discursive or a letter, depending on which I know more vocabulary for.

How does everyone revise for French?!
For AS I just didn't really, and managed to come out with an A, but I really need an A at A2 and I'm worried that it's harder and I really should be doing some work.
Any ideas?!

Er... go through grammar rules, tenses, make sure you've memorised them. Learn vocab lists...

Ok, thanks. What about for listening? I've been trying to listen to French radio broadcasts to focus but I keep getting distracted and it blurs into foreign babble!
Has anyone got any other ones tomorrow? I've got my philosophy synoptic too!
Listening there's not a lot really, other than radio or tv.
Oh, and I only just found out that our listening is going to be on the computer with mp3s, not with tapes and walkmen.
Yes so's ours, we have to be escorted by armed guard from the language lab down to the exam hall so that we don't make contact with anyone else.
I'm being slightly melodramatic, but you get the picture

really? Is that for all schools do you know? or just yours... Thats much better than tapes, although with tapes you can slow down the words if u lightly hold play or stop lol
Haha, now I have a mental picture of the four people in my french class surrounded by all the teachers with armour, guns, and police dogs.

I'm not sure really, but I'd guess it's for everyone. Find someone who did the german exams in your school and ask them - that's how I found out.
As for slowing down, you do this on Windows Media Player, doesn't that have some kind of slow down thing? Not that I'd use it.
It does have a speed up thing though, that could be fun lol - bored, with time left!

lol it'd be like a blurb of french mice
I think it's meant to be for everyone, as long as you have the facilities to do it i.e. enough computers in one room or whatever. I did AS in my GCSE year and had to sit on my own in a tiny room with a tape player, being watched over by an examiner with horrific halitosis. Not my best exam experience!

I'm doing this tomorrow too and need an A overall *ughhh*
The worst for me will be the listening part, that's def my weakest skill.
I've been listening to french radio and Authentik cd's though.
My grammar and tenses are pretty solid so I hope that will serve me well.
Hope no nasty vocab will come up too; to be honest all the topics seemed to have blurred into one!
I find that too, our teacher didn't really differentiate clearly between the topics and we tended to jump around from lesson to lesson, not exactly helpful!
My problem is that I tend to think it's easier than it is and finish really quickly, but end up missing the point!

Think I'm definitely going to see the movie this evening, although I have got a couple of french DVDs I can watch.

I've been slowly going through my notes, bored.

I agree all the topics seemed to have blurred into one in the past few years which is tricky.

I didn't know you can slow down/speed up on the listening! We are given the choice of tapes or CDs. Being able to slow down is a great help. Sadly my college is just 9 of us in a bog standard classroom.

In the AS I could hear other people stopping and rewinding the old-style tape recorders, plus the gardeners mowing and builders doing building work, and that is when I had the volume on my CD player on full.

TBA is task - based assignment, q 8 & 9 on writing in registers. Oh really? I'm no good at the discursive only got 30/40 on 2 i did. I've been getting an average of 35/40 on tba so decided that was a safe bet. Hope the translation's nicer than the German one last Wednesday!
