Quite the interesting article on the general Israel/Palestine conflict. I also wonder if anything will seriously come out of Lebanon if this current conflict continues for much longer (which I envision that it will).
Here it comes back to Bateman lack of understanding of ethnicity, nationality etc. And notice how e went from claiming I was half-Jewish to fully Israeli, none of these backed up?
Ah, I see. Only problem with that is that the concept of proportionality has nothing to do with the damage caused or the number of people killed. It only has to do with the methods deployed.
If I'm honest, I'm inclined to say that I couldn't care less about International Law's concept of proportionality and have my own idea of what I'd consider to be 'moral' or 'immoral' or 'too aggressive'. I know that would make it rather difficult debating with others, because then we'd all have our own vague, unquantifiable definitions of proportionality, but I just don't think I'm satisfied with the IL one.

I guess that's your prerogative. But you'd need to tell people that when you're discussing "proportionality" you are using your own unique definition. And then people would just ignore you. So all-in-all, probably better to either stick to the true definition or just not discuss it.
I agree, makes you wonder why Hamas don't end it by stopping firing rockets into Israel.
They did let red cross workers in, actually.
This is exactly the kind of thinking of terrorists. The fact is that this is an act of sick REVENGE and Israel is not going to achieve its aims and it knows this. If anything attacks are probably going to get worse against Israel.

Did you not see the footage on the news last night.
They actually are achieving their aim. Rocket attacks are down 75%. Israel can only deal with each challenge as it arises.

Well if people want to discount my opinion once I've explained why I'm unhappy with IL's definition of proportionality, or at least why I choose not to use it, then that's their prerogative. I can just as easily, and just as correctly, say that people here who have absolutely no military experience or intelligence whatsoever discussing proportionality are talking out their rear orifice. At least one of us is aware that they're not in a position to make these sorts of statements.

So we're going to see the same thing next year, the year after and so on then?
