Re: McDonalds(Original post by Stacks)
If you applied then probably. Though I've always been able to book an interview time online. Might just be easier for him if you did it over the phone.
The interview is just basic questions about yourself and you'll probably get asked what hours you're looking at working etc etc. Just the usual stuff
I've always worn a shirt and tie with black trousers....always good to make a decent first impression
Thank you, I was planning on wearing black trousers and a shirt so that sounds good. I hope it goes ok, can't be that difficult of an interview! -

Does anybody know if managers can change the maximum and minimum hours you've agreed to work each week without asking you? I swear they've decreased mine...Means I'm making like £30 in the last two weeks of this month. Bloody ridiculous.
A manager can change the min hour if you have done no shows, or you need a back to job interview. Just ring up and say you need more hours. If they say they can't help, facebook other staff asking to work their shift. If any do you get your hours and your managers know you can work more etc.
I am scheduled 16 hours a week, sometime to 18, but never less. In the summer I work between 30-50 depending on overtime as I turn into a full time employee. Just show commitment and you can work longer and better hours. -
Re: McDonaldsI think it's about 20 max, 16 preferred and 7 minimum. Minimum's changed to 5 now which is bloody stupid. And nope, never been late or been sick(Original post by pwdrin)

I shouldn't really be annoyed because I'm gonna ask to get my hours upped to full time anyhow since I think I'm gonna change uni courses..which another manager said would be fine but jan and feb are really slow for us so I wouldn't get that many hours to begin with.
Just makes me feel like they don't want me there since I'm working the bare minimum for the next couple of weeks. -
Re: McDonaldsTo be fair, like you said, January is a really slow month and it's going to be difficult for them to keep everyone happy. I mean, in my store full time people are only on 22-25 hours this week and in my friends store some of the full time people are as low as 18 hours (which is a lot to do with them being over-staffed but still..). It will get better as we go into February and it starts to pick up a bit (:(Original post by Stacks)

I'm fine with the reasoning...just annoyed they moved my hours down with no mention about it to me.

Re: McDonaldsUsually in our store the discount cards just appear in the crew room :') new ones are out in March!(Original post by Boom Boom Pow)
Has everyone got their employee card? Do I just have to ask? -
Re: McDonaldsFront counter? Yep you just set up the coffee machines, drinks towers, fry station etc, get dry stock, make up happy meal boxes if they're not done on the close, stock up desserts and bottled drinks, fruit bags, etc. And maybe do some cleaning if the opening manager is the type to get you to do that(Original post by Stacks)
So later this week I'm on my first open, what exactly do you do on the open?
I can't think what you'd do for 2 hours before we're open to customers
is it just basically setting everything up and making sure everything is stocked up?

Sounds fun....will be even funner getting my manager to show me how to set all the stuff up
I swear he expects me to know automatically how things work..at least we get along alright

Re: McDonaldsWell if you were at my store you would have a 30 minute break.(Original post by Knight of Cydonia)
Hey everyone!
I have a shift from 3pm-8pm tomorrow, does anyone know what break time I am allowed (duration) and what food I'd be allowed to eat? As I don't know and don't want to look silly asking the manager :P
Thanks!
You would also be allowed any medium meal with a 'desert' but we're not allowed milkshakes. However it depends on your store really. -
Re: McDonaldsIs it your first shift? Technically break allowance is 30 minutes for a shift of that length, but they might let you take 45, especially if you're given a "buddy" to keep you company on your break (because standard shifts are 8 or 9 hours with a 45 minute break).(Original post by Knight of Cydonia)

They'll tell you what you're allowed to eat, most stores' policy is a standard meal (sandwich or nuggets etc, fries/salad/fruit bag and a drink) and a dessert, but some stores have rules like no bottled drinks, no large meals, no promo items, etc. If you're not sure just ask someone
Have fun

Re: McDonaldsYou're allowed any large meal plus a dessert. Since it is your first shift, you'll have a four hour shift with an hour break. I should know since I started three weeks ago.(Original post by Knight of Cydonia)

Re: McDonaldsWith McDonalds its all about what they want to hear when it comes to the multiple choice questions. Apparently you need 50 out of 100 points on them to get an interview. However, they may reject you anywy if your application is too late, since it is first come first served. Also, on the questions that ask "When I was little I never told my parents a lie" you should put strongly disagree. And ABSOLUTELY do not answer DOnt' know to any of them.(Original post by johnsmith2011)
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me please. I really want a job at McDonalds as I feel it would be an ideal first job for me. I have tried applying online to myy local McDonalds that is just about to open. I got rejected by e-mail two days later. I think it was through an automated process so I must have done something wrong filling out the application.
I was hoping if someone could help me with how i'm supposed to fill it out as i've never had a job before in any capacity so i'm unaware of the way in which tthe questions should be answered. The multiple choice questions at the end of the form are what I struggle with on all online aplications. When it says answer truthfully that's what I do for example when it asked something like " Have you ever lied" I answer "I agree". But i'm thinking I should have lied and wrote " I disagree"?? Also, when it asks you about you biggest achievment i wrote about getting an unconditional to uni at 16 and in the activities part i wrote the normal football, shopping etc. What are you meant to put in these boxes and are you meant to link the activities to skills you have that demonstrate your ability or something idk, because I didn't.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am desperate to get a job. Thanks! -
Re: McDonaldsOh yeah forgot about that. Mine's a Mcdonalds resturant, is yours a franchise, I'm guessing.(Original post by Boom Boom Pow)

Re: McDonaldsMy store is company-run and we don't work that way either. It differs between stores, regardless of who owns/runs them.(Original post by os100)

Re: McDonaldsYep mine is a franchise. Unfortunately we have been stopped from having salads at break because we don't get enough in. There's only so much grease I can take(Original post by os100)
