Re: The McDonalds Thread
Question: policy on coloured hair anyone?? I'm going back to dark from blonde and really really want to make it purpley coloured for a bit for something different...it got mentioned at my welcome meeting but I really can't remember what was said :/
(to clarify, not bright purple, it will be quite dark, but cos of how pale my hair is now it's going to be a really big change and distinctly purple) -
Re: The McDonalds ThreadFor company stores it's £5.00 for 18-20 years and £6.10 for 21+ franchised stores may be different though.(Original post by LastHype)
My contract was for £6.10 an hour.
In other news, a woman from the store called and said the uniform problems have been resolved and I can get my first shift soon! Hooray!
I've had my hair red before, one of my managers has had hers blue, another's had bright purple highlights, and before my time there was a guy who used to frequently die his different bright colours, so it's never been an issue at my store. Your BM/ops consultant/franchisee might have different rules though, so may be best to ask.(Original post by Anna-Jack-Hope)

Re: The McDonalds Thread
Does anyone know of any 'official' policy regarding jumper or fleece wearing for crew members?
A lot of crew trainers wear a black jumper (not a McDs one, just one they've bought themselves) over their t shirt. Don't know if this is a right reserved solely for trainers & management.
I (and a lot of crew members) tend to wear the black fleeces as well, but today I got told to take mine off as apparently you're only allowed to wear them if you're on Booth 1 or presenting on Booth 3? She told me I couldn't wear it because I was on tills (it was also gap hour if that helps).
Is she allowed to do this? I feel like if I'm cold I should have some sort of right to cover up..Last edited by michaelr1992; 10-04-2012 at 00:11. -
Re: The McDonalds ThreadThe jacket is only uniform for those on DT so by wearing a jacket on tills your not wearing your uniform and they are entitled to tell you to take it off. Also by wearing it you alone could fail the gap. If you are cold have you ever thought about wearing something like a vest underneath your t-shirt? Anyway its the start of summer now so it won't be cold in McD's for ages anyway.(Original post by michaelr1992)

Re: The McDonalds ThreadYes, they do! A lot of stores will not pay lobby staff that until they go to the customer care course first though.(Original post by craftySnake)

Re: The McDonalds ThreadIt would probably just be because of gap time. My store let us wear them weather you were on front or on D/T over winter, but then our group manager came in one time a couple of months ago and told everyone who was wearing one on front to take it off. Plus no one really needs them now, its quite warm in the store. Yesterday we had a non-uniform day and I was out on handheld in a t-shirt and thin cardigan, despite the fact it had been raining most of the day and it was around 7-ish.(Original post by michaelr1992)

But otherwise I dont think our store minds wearing fleeces over winter -
Re: The McDonalds Thread
In my welcome meeting there was another girl who was younger, 18 or 19 and she was told £5.00, felt kinda bad when she said I was on £6.10 as I'm 21!
Hopefully I'll hear about my uniform too soon then
EDIT:
When is the cut off date for what you get paid for? I think I've worked out that the 26th is your last pay this month, so what days do you get paid for up until, ie. the Sunday before, or? I'm still waiting for my shifts and concerened about paying my rent on the 1st so hoping I'll be able to get some hours in to be paid so I don't have to borrow money :/ Just waiting for that damn uniform!Last edited by hallucinated; 10-04-2012 at 14:13. -
