Re: The McDonalds Thread

been selected to do the Olympics thing but can't work for a couple of days during that time.. will it matter? :| I can work literally everyday apart from a couple during the paralympics as I have lots of uni stuff during that time :| are they as flexible as normal mcdonalds? I was only told today that I'd be doing the Olympics - my manager is so disorganised :| ! -
Re: The McDonalds ThreadOlympics thing? Do you mean you have been selected as a member of the olympic champion crew and you'll be working at one of the 4 olympic branches?(Original post by Jessca)

Strange that their breaking the law.I work for two different franchises, and both do not allow under 18s to work after 12 or before 4. I can't imagine they are both breaking the law, as it isn't done on the hush, it is scheduled and all above board.(Original post by tooti)
In my store the latest shift an under 18 could do was 4-11.

Very confusing! -
Re: The McDonalds ThreadThis is true - many stores are awful and break the law by keeping you after your scheduled hours ect.. you need to know your rights and express that to a manager as they take advantage so much :| they only give me two breaks in a ten hour shift because they know I am aware of the laws... other employees barely get one!(Original post by tm00131)

Re: The McDonalds Thread
In work yesterday, the competition was to beat my highest till hour. And I wasn't to be told. Although, someone did ruin it all and tell me. I was on the crappy till for serving people anyways, but my highest hour was beaten by £1! Unhappy, cause just before the next hour someone wanted 2 cones, but the opener hadn't stocked them up so I had to quickly stock them up before I could serve them and thus the £1.78 went over to my next hour meaning my till hour got beat
I hold the record in my store any way so it's all good. Although, we're coming up to the period were it's going to be super busy so it's the perfect time for me to break it again
There can be exceptions to that law though, and a company as big as McDonald's wouldn't get away with having a rule across all stores which turned out to be illegal.(Original post by Southall)
Strange that their breaking the law.
I'd really encourage more people to be clued up on what they're entitled to legally (and according to company policy), because there are some managers who will try to push it. Although, with 10 hour shifts you're only legally entitled to two break if you're under 18 (although company policy says you should have two, they're not breaking the law by only giving one unless the break is at the start or the end of the shift). If it happens regularly, I'd speak to your BM about it, they can see through CAMS any broken working time regulation rules and they could try matching it up to who was running the shift and stuff.(Original post by Jessca)

Our store is okay for stuff like that cause we shut at 18:30, most of our are broken by our BM scheduling people who were on the close (20:00) to be on the open the next day (06:30) so having less than the 11 hours rest you should have between shifts. Although, it's generally managers that get screwed over by this rather than crew, when we last checked it there wasn't one crew member who had been working out-with regulations. -

Joking aside, it may well be that no one on here has any involvement with the Olympic restaurants, so you won't get an answer. Can your disorganised manager not put you in touch with the Olympic restaurant team? -
Re: The McDonalds ThreadFrom the company crew handbook:(Original post by itsCHRIS)
Is there a hair policy for McDonalds? I have brown hair with green streaks, wondering if I should dye it just brown before I go for my interview?
Hair
Hair should be neat, tidy and well groomed. Hair must be kept under the hat and away from the face and styled or tied back, e.g. in a ponytail, so that it is close to the head. Hair nets will be required for hairstyles that do not comply with this and where a ponytail is worn. Extraordinary hairstyles and/or hair colouring and hair beads/ ornaments which can be a source of physical contamination are not permitted, unless they are hidden by the uniform hat. Hair extensions may also be a risk and should be firmly secured and/or covered. -

My disorganised manager is literally the most CLUELESS person ever. I was literally sitting there on my break yesterday eating a chocolate muffin he runs down and shouts: JESSSSIEEE would you like to work at the Olympic McDonalds..? So I say yes and he said ok you're going with *insert names here* then that was basically the end of the conversation really.. -
Re: The McDonalds ThreadGlad someone else hates it(Original post by tooty_fruit)
The three platen garland grill is a nightmare. It always gets the "motor error 2250" or something, which is not good when you can only run on one platen over lunchtime! i just hope they don't replace the older grill with it, thats much more reliable!
Ours hasn't been as bad lately (still doesn't cook the meat though) but one of the platens on our old grill and the triple grill broke. Nothing as fun as having three platens for everything during lunchtime.
You story sounded weird to me so I did a little stalk-age :P You started in September last year right? Did you ever go to a Super Team event? It seems unlikely that you'd even be selected for OC crew and IIRC Super Team was in November-ish?(Original post by Jessca)

I don't really understand how you're getting sent to the Olympic McDonald's just through chance.Last edited by Stacks; 08-07-2012 at 00:03. -
Re: The McDonalds Threadit is really strange :| two people from my store dropped out and my manager offered me one of their places along with another guy... knowing my manager this will probably flop anyway he is ridiculous, I mean it starts in 19 days so how could they sort everything out by then even if I could work there :|(Original post by Stacks)
