Is it wrong that I actually enjoy working at McDonald's after finishing my first week? My first shift was drive through with training, second was drive through alone, third was pulling drinks, fourth was front counter with backing, fifth was front counter alone. I hope I don't get put in the kitchen!
I enjoy it, and I've been there just about 4 years!

Shattered after today's shift, managed a £265 unbacked till hour without a fry person or drinks puller! We also broke our breakfast record hour so it was a good shift!

I enjoy working at McDonald's and I'm getting on three years. McDonald's is what you make it, if you have a hard working attitude and want to learn new things, and it sounds like your doing well.

It will never cease to amaze me how many names customers can invent for Fruitizz...

"Five a day bubbly", "Fruit-eeez", "Fruity fizzy", "Kid's five a day", "Fizzy five a day", "Fanta bubbly"....all common offenders

By the way anyone else noticed that they've dropped the Fanta branding from Fruitizz and now it's just called Fruitizz? Wonder why they did that.

Oh, I didn't even realise that Fruitizz was from Fanta. Or the Coca Cola family.

In other news, I'm a bit annoyed as my employee discount card was refused today in a Birmingham McOpCo branch as it was only temporary.

Dont forget "that" while pointing at the promo advert on the front of the till so you have to lean over just to see what "that" might be.
Some people also do that on DT - "I want this thing next to the screen"
My best ever was when the GTA promo was on - somebody came through the DT asking for a "nasho grandey f***king whatever" gotta love the locals.

They'll probably either tell you at the orientation or ring you a few days after when they've scheduled you time with someone.

Is there usually a amount of time they have to wait after the orientation before i can work?

Haha yeah that one was mad, I had these drunk guys in drive thru at about 2am who kept shouting GRANDE in ridiculous Spanish accents.

The POP for the Caramel McFlurry ages ago also caused some funny moments. "Can I have a Caramelicious please?", "Erm, what?..."

I think you might have to do the online orientation which covers Health & Safety stuff, but once you've done that I don't think they need to wait. They just need to set you up on the system once they've got your bank details but that's usually straight after the orientation.

I had my orientation on a Friday I think, then my first shifts were Friday and Saturday the following week. It'll depend on the individual restaurant though and how organised / desperate for staff they are.

Haha, and the Creme Egg one: "Can I get a goo please?"

I work at one in a retail park, so it goes us, KFC, then pizza hut. Were the one thats open the earliest and til the latest though, but it sorta annoys me when people are like can I have some McDonald's McChicken Nuggets? It's like Narh, ill run over the road and get you some KFC ones, or decide to put mc in front of everything

I was out on handheld one day but whoever was on headset was taking quite a big order, and the guy must have asked for some popcorn chicken or something, because you just heard the guy on headset go 'you can only get those in Yorkshire.... Or KFC' just made me giggle, but I think it had been a long say stood outside

I do enjoy my job though some people are amazing

    Anyone help me?

I start in McDonald's on Sunday. I've got 11am-5pm, nice 6 hour shift. It's my first shift, where should I go before I start?

Also, how many hours do you think I'll be working? I'm off till September, in September I start college, so at the moment, they know I can work anytime. When I applied for the job it said 5-22hours a week of work, does this mean I'll be able to do the 22 hours a week? Or does it change? Thank you! )

If anyone's interested in the interview process...

I had a 1-1 with a manager a while ago for a customer service assistant position. He just went on and on about anything and everything to do with working at Mcdonalds. He kept mentioning the interview process that was asking a few questions of a sheet, but then he'd get distracted and start rambling about something else for another few minutes. The questions, when he did get round to them, were split into two sections, one for if you've had work experience or one if you hadn't had a job before so they were school-related. I was getting the work-related ones. Just the usual stuff like examples of working in a team or dealing with a problem. What I noticed the most was the questions were asking more about negatives, such as an example of when you've made a mistake or given bad customer service. These caught me a bit off guard as I hadn't prepared and was a bit hungover. Obviously that's a very bad idea, but I mainly went to the interview for that experience rather than landing the job. So it would be a good idea to prepare answers based on your experiences. I was expecting an OJE but that didn't happen, and the interview only lasted about 20 minutes. I guess it really depends on the manager recruiting. My interviewer was friendly and had 15 years experience of working in McDonalds, but his interviewing technique could have been better. I would give a 3-5 sentence answer, and then he'd waffle on for five minutes before finally letting me speak again. Pretty annoying.

As for the application process, I applied online which was fairly quick and easy to do. Then about an hour later I got an email inviting me to an interview which was a few days later. So on the plus side, they can be very quick in processing your application.

Oh of course how could I forget "that"!

Today I was taking an order on the (COD) drive through and the woman, then she goes "where are the chicken strips on those things?" (menu boards).. "well I don't know I can't see them over the headset" ..she didn't sound too impressed.

Yeah. I also wasn't aware that Fruitizz has only just launched nationwide. We've had it for nearly 2 years and I thought everyone else had it as well.

(on another note, does anyone actually like Fruitizz? I think it's awful)
