Default Confirming degree classification

This is probably going to sound silly, but how do you confirm your degree classification to get onto a masters? Do I have to wait until I get my degree certificate as graduation isn't until next month?

You should be able to get a transcript now (if you have your results) which will state your overall degree class but have a little note on it saying that it won't be conferred until July. If you contact your registry office they should be able to sort it out. I'm sending that version off to my uni as they said that will be enough as proof, but I guess it's possible your uni might want to wait until you have it conferred. Best thing to do would be to contact the uni you are going to and ask them.

when I got my degree result I phoned up the admissions tutor for my masters and just told them my grade, that was it. They just said "great, we'll confirm you on our list, bring along your degree certificate in September". That was it. Might be worth phoning Durham and doing the same, saves time and effort.

Mackem: so whats your plan.

I see on the teaching thread you have been offered a PGCE place as well, and that you are in two minds. which do you plann to accept.

If I was you I would do the MA, as it seems from your posts that's what you wanted, AND get Leicester to defer your PGCE til next year, that way you have that chance to do it next year w/o reapplying.

However..... what do you want to do after your MA, if its teaching, you may as well go and do the PGCE now.... get Boosh to help you out.

Boosh where are you, help needed RE: teaching V Social sciences research...

Does the PGCE at Leicester lead have an intercalated MA like they do at Durham (http://www.dur.ac.uk/education/postgraduate/pgce/maqts/) where you top up to MA PT over your first 2 years f teaching???

Flexible Fish: Yes I was in two minds but after a lot of thinking have decided to do the MA as it will open up more doors for me in the long term I think than going straight onto a PGCE, plus I probably would have kicked myself in the future for not doing it. I am going to undertake some voluntary work and hopefully go into another school to do some observation of lessons to see if its something I want to do, and take more time over my decision.

I don't know how it works at Leeds, but at Brum you can get them to send your official transcript (that you wouldn't normally receive until August, so you forfeit your free copy) straight to whoever you want it sent to as soon as the results have been published electronically (a couple of days from now).

If you have a similar system, maybe it might be worth getting in touch with the transcripts office at Leeds?

Yup, I had to arrange it because receiving my free transcript in August (which I didn't get last year anyway!) would mean that I'd be too late to meet the deadline for Cambridge - I was initially just going to buy one and have it sent to them (like I had to for applications) but you have to buy them in packs of 4 now (for the same price as one), so I emailed the people asking whether I could just get one and the lady suggested that I just have my free one forwarded.

If you want the address of the lady (because my email was forwarded to her from the transcripts email) PM me
