Question Economics or Economics finance and banking?

Hi all

I've chosen to do an Economics banking and finance BSc degree at university, but I am already thinking about changing my course to a pure Economics BSc, or even possibly Applied Economics BA

I would like some sort of carrer in Investment banking, but I would just like to hear some opinions of which course is generally better, as I'm just a bit unsure in what I want to do

cheers

Well, a BA/BSc Economics would be more flexible, so you would be able to 'build' the degree around your interests and what you need for your chosen career.

Oh yeah I forgot about my grades and uni choices, sorry

My grades will be AAD for A level, with A's in business and ICT, but unfortunately a D in maths. Because of this I will be studying at Portsmouth, which I know isn't the best of universities, and won't get me a high flying carrer, but for my situation I would like to know what everyone else would study

thanks

Would it not be possible to retake A-Level Maths and do another A-Level or two at the same time to enable you to go to a better university? It's just that Plymouth isn't really the greatest, especially if you're looking to get into banking.

Have you also considered looking on UCAS Extra? As far as I'm aware City is in there with Economics and IFRM, and there are some other decent universities with a variety of economics/economics related courses.

i think a pur economics provides the academic backgrounf and is more rigorous however, with banking and finance it provides the specialisation that many employees are looking for. personally i think u made the right decision!
