Re: The Waitrose Thread
Worked at trose for the past 2 years and am off to Leeds uni in September. At my branch they've let students who used to work at the branch come back to work there during the holidays, while also having a job in the branch in the city of where they go to uni. How do I get onto this student scheme thing!?

Re: The Waitrose ThreadFriday, should come through Thursday though(Original post by lukespencer91)
What day is Payday this week??

Re: The Waitrose Thread
I've agreed to do an 8:30am-7:30pm shift today, already regretting this decision
hopefully I'm not just stuck on tills for 11 hours!
Ask your PM(Original post by JustCharley)

I think that T0MM3H is doing something similar, going away for you uni but being kept on the books so that he can do overtime during the holidays.

Re: The Waitrose Threadbut there isn't any official scheme or anything?(Original post by Elvendork)

Re: The Waitrose ThreadIn our branch you have to talk to the personell manager, but your section manager will know probably - our store has stopped this now, and theres a whole new scheme, they are having less partners, and more hours for each.(Original post by JustCharley)

Re: The Waitrose Thread
Last week got someone to cover one of my shifts for me for this weekend, and I'm gonna cover for him next week. He called in sick today (for his normal shift) but my SM told him he shouldn't come in to cover for me on the weekend, even though he said he should be feeling fine by then. Is my SM allowed to do that? I've already got plans for the day I told him to cover for me, why the sudden change of heart from my SM?
-
Re: The Waitrose Threadhave a word with your SM it depends what he has if its sickness and diahreoh sp? then he cant come in for 48 hours anyway, but your best just to talk to you SM about it, maybe you can find alternative cover or something.(Original post by itsmyname)

Re: The Waitrose ThreadWhat if he says no, I have to come in. I want to know where I stand, is he allowed to do that?(Original post by Leighthesim)

Re: The Waitrose Threadis the cover in writing? and have both you your SM and the person who is meant to be covering sighned it?? if so then no i dont think he can because hes agreed to let them cover you, if not then i think he possibly can. So if you talk to them and see if you can either get someone else to cover or take it as unpaid anyway, and explain you have made plans for the day which is why you needed it off.(Original post by itsmyname)

Re: The Waitrose ThreadWe didn't sign anything, my SM just looked at the rota and wrote something on that. I might not even see him at all this week, I just dont want to be phoned up on Sunday morning and get told to come in(Original post by Leighthesim)

Re: The Waitrose ThreadIt will probably go down as unauthorised unpaid, if your sm has cancelled it.(Original post by itsmyname)

Re: The Waitrose ThreadIs that allowed though, when he agreed to it himself and then decided to change his mind? I mean I've already made plans and Unauthorised Unpaid sounds like something that could get me in trouble(Original post by Lucy King)

Re: The Waitrose ThreadIf he, in no uncertain terms, told you that you could swap shifts and confirmed it by writing it in the rota. That counts as a contractual temporary change of hours, you need 2 weeks notice for any change of hours that you do not agree to. He has decided to tell the other person not to come in, effectively making him sick for another of his shifts. All you need do is turn up to his shift, and you've kept your end of the bargain.(Original post by itsmyname)

I'm assuming your SM hasn't told you that you are required to be in? Again, unless he tells you to come in, not your problem ,and if he tells you to, tell him that you had an agreement for a contract change, and it was his perogative to give the other guy the day off. His problem, his loss.
