Re: The Waitrose ThreadHi do you have any advice for Waitrose group interview? Thanks(Original post by kawaii_girl)
I'm a third year law student, been at Waitrose now for 6 years (2yrs sixth form, 1yr Gap Year, 3yrs at Uni). I'm on the student transfer scheme and it's worked well for me though I know most people gave it up after a few years.
Feel free to PM me with any questions. Though I don't love working, Waitrose is a very good place to work as a part time job. I got a good bonus this year just from my part-time hours and have had time off unpaid to go travelling in my gap year with my job left open.
Hope I can help!

Re: The Waitrose ThreadWhat did you say your favourite food was and why? thats a difficult one!(Original post by nickth)
I just had my group assessment this morning!
I think it went well. There were six of us and we had an ice breaking activity to do first. Then we had to present ourselves, saying what our favourite food is and why, why we should get a job at waitrose and what we would like to do in the future. Then we had to do a two minute pitch in pairs on a random product.
I realised I spoke a bit fast when I presented myself, but I was the only one at university (the only one not in college), and the only one with a decent amount of experience. I made sure I asked lots of questions and stayed enthusiastic when we went on a tour around the store, maintained eye contact and kept up a smile. Hopefully this is enough to get the job!!
The lady said I would hear within a week, does it usually take this long for them to get back though?
EDIT: They have three more assessments taking place today and tomorrow, so I'm guessing earliest they can make a decision would be Monday? -

Re: The Waitrose ThreadHow do I get to the unofficial guide, is there a password or website?(Original post by Lucy King)
I am currently totally re writing the unofficial guide, if anyone has any input (interview process) and induction process, please PM it to me.
With everyone's input, it will be far more accurate and helpful.
Thanks for your support.

Re: The Waitrose ThreadI said this really complicated pasta dish that Heston does, which I really love! I said I'm a real foodie, love cooking and you can buy all the best ingredients for it at waitrose!(Original post by SorayaA)
What did you say your favourite food was and why? thats a difficult one!
I got offered a job in the end, but so did a girl who said beans & toast was her favourite food, so you don't necessarily have to be a foodie, just be enthusiastic

Re: The Waitrose ThreadAll training is paid at your contractual rate of pay. Induction involves receiving your locker key, multimedia training, branch tour, a a bit of training on your section.(Original post by CAC)
Ermmmm, i've got the job! they called me today, by the way and i have induction coming soon! i wanted to know, what this entailed, for anyone who had recently attended an induction day? Thanks! -
Hey,
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but I'm just checking.
Is all recruitment done as temporary at the moment and partners are kept on if the business allows for it? I know some job vacancies explicitly say 'summer temps only' which is obviously just summer but what about the rest of the roles?
If I pass my interview my 3 months would end in the steady rise to Christmas do hopefully trade will be good.
I hope that made sense!

Re: The Waitrose ThreadHi I know this doesn't answer your question but what questions did they ask you during the one to one interview? thanks(Original post by Tool2)
Hi everyone,
I've just had my one-two-one interview and i was told i would hear back on tuesday of this week, since tuesday has passed, i have still heard nothing? Although i checked my status on the waitrose careers website and it says ''Application on hold'', i have not received an e-mail detailing this and no-one has contacted me about what will happen now.
I'm so confused :s -
Re: The Waitrose ThreadDoes the second interview mean you've basically got the job? Did they ask you any questions? if yes what questions did they ask?(Original post by brownies:))
Waiting to hear back from my one to one interview(well informal tour and talk of waitrose branch) will be a week tomorrow. Should I call and follow up tomorrow if I haven't heard from the by then? Is it bad that I haven't heard from them yet or...? Getting quite nervous/impatient as I really would like a job! Advice anyone? -
Re: The Waitrose ThreadWhat kind of questions did they ask you in the 2nd interview?(Original post by batboy113)
Guys, wow i'm so upset
So I had the 2nd interview yesterday, just checked my status and it says "application is on hold." Is this just a polite way of waitrose rejecting me?

Re: The Waitrose ThreadHi, What kind of questions did they ask you at your second interview? Thanks in advance.(Original post by sugarcoateddreams)
Hayyy, just wanted some advice...
I went for a group interview last Saturday and got a call yesterday to say I have a second interview on Thursday. She has told me to go to the information desk and ask for her (the personnel manager)...I just wanted to know how common this is, as I'm aware that most people have this interview with their SM?
Also, how likely am I to be successful at this second stage if I don't say anything drastically wrong?
And also...do you have any idea if it will be a formal and serious 1-1 question interview? Or whether it's just a casual chat, and checking of hours and job information etc?
Any help would be appreciated, as obviously my interview is on Thursday :/
