thankyou! btw, i dont want to transfer to another branch, i just want to do replenishments or checkouts rather than bakery

Yeah I got that:tongue: It's just that during the Christmas period they're a little less enthusiastic to allow any form of transfer, even sections, because of how busy it gets.
I'm going to uni next year and looking to get a transfer from my local waitrose to the waitrose near my uni. However during Christmas and summer holidays is it possible to transfer back to my local store?
I got an email saying I have an interview for Waitrose, I just booked the time slot. Will it be a group interview? It didn't say? It just said it will last about an 1hr.

It's highly unlikely you'll be able to move before Christmas, mention it to your section manager or pcm, that you want to move, it won't happen overnight as there needs to be a position available.

More thank likely a group interview and then a 1 to 1 during the group.

More than likely. Generally the first interview you book will be a group interview, which follows up into an individual one either on the day or in due time.

It depends on the lenience of the store - mention it to your line manager and then take it higher. The term for that kind of contract is seasonal, and a lot of university students tend to take them.
How do you receive your partner discount at three months? Is it by post or do you get given it at your branch?

It comes in the internal post, be sure to complete your partnerlink discount training first.

Christmas Aprons are arriving in branches on Monday. Short ones have no pockets, although longer ones do. Must be worn by all non management partners instead of normal apron.

i dont really like them :/
Would you say that most applicants get an interview? And if people get told they are unsuccessful from just doing the application form would this be because of their answers to the questionnaire etc? I applied a month or so ago and was told today I was unsuccessful in getting an interview. I did answer the multiple choice questions as truthfully as possible but I didn't think any of my answers were anything out of the ordinary. I tried to show that customer service was the most important thing.. Do waitrose want people who have already had experience?

None of these are necessarily the exact rule for each branch - some might want people with experience, or certain hiring periods might see a desire for more experienced people. Some branches might interview a large portion of applications, others might interview very few. If you really want to find out, you can try to call the branch and ask for some feedback on your application - say you would like to know so you can build your resume/improve yourself so that you have more of a chance next time. This will also impress the branch!
Although this thread isn't that active anymore, just thought I'd post my experiences with the whole interview process in case anyone further down the line was interested.

I applied for the job, the deadline came and went and, after a month or so, I got a phone call out of the blue for a telephone interview! Took me completely by surprise as I'd heard nothing and assumed I hadn't been successful. Telephone interview apparently went really well, which was surprising considering I stumbled over my words and didn't even have an answer for one of the questions. So a few days later I'm contacted and told I have a group interview with 4 other people.

Well I had my group interview last Tuesday, after 2 pr 3 weeks, and it was pretty good. Very relaxed environment, nice people, was only 3 of us (should have been 4 but the girl didn't show, although the lady on the phone said there would be 5 of us, but whatever) so that made it easier. We arrived, had to wait for 5 minutes in case there were any late arrives and we were then escorted upstairs. No ice breaker, no introductions, straight into the group task which was to look at a big customer survey, pick out the points where the store should improve, how you'd improve it, what you'd need etc. We had 8 minutes (exact, I know haha) to read over the customer survey cards and then we had about half an hour to talk as a group and come up with answers. This was a lot easier than I expected, I think as long as you're relatively confident, speak clearly and often, you'll be fine. Not too often though!

After this we were escorted to the branch's staff room where we filled out a form (what days of the week we could work and clothing sizes for the uniform) and we then had to wait to be called for our individual interviews. I was the last to be called up, I counted the time taken for the 2 before me and their interviews lasted about 10-15 minutes each. I went into the room, sat down and the guy introduced himself, talked a little about himself to make it a bit more comfortable and then off we went with the interview. He asked questions like what my hobbies were, why I wanted to work at Waitrose, what I would do if I was a customer going into the branch and looking at some fruit (ie what I'd look for, basically just had to list stuff like if it contained nuts, gluten, the price etc, all general stuff). Didn't have any of the questions I was expecting! They were all relatively straight forward, just do research on the Partnership and have some answers to basic questions prepared and it should go well. The interview finished, shook the guy's hand and off I went.

Next day I got an email saying I got the job! Rang up the lady I'd been liaising with and she confirmed it, I scored 20/21 on the interview process too which was a nice surprise! That was over a week ago, been kicking my feet around waiting to hear when I start, getting frustrated now! :frown:

That was my experience with Waitrose and the whole interview process, hope it was helpful to anyone who may be looking at this thread in the future!

hello! to claim discount online, you have to make sure to use the same email for your John Lewis account as the one on your partner link account and then it should just work automatically ☺️ hope this helped!
