That's cool.

I would, but it's in Leicester! (and there's no way I can use my dad's bike, seats tiny and I can't touch the floor on it so. ) That and mine's a mountain bike and it's getting pretty old. And I can't cycle for **** - only recreational and I can't climb to save my life.

I also live near a hill with about a 30% gradient or something stupid (edit: I exaggerate, it's around 20%, even that I cannot manage. I am so unfit.) and that's the way to the wonderful country/coastal routes. Last time I remember going up that damn hill my pedal decided to fall off my bike.

However, when I get my bike back down here I will learn, I've been itching to get out since the tour.

I have only just started Cycling again after not doing it for ages, and I am loving it!! I commute ~6m a day, to and from Nottingham. My bike is a secondhand Trek 4500 which I picked up for £50 (bargain!!) its a little faulty.. the upgraded shock absorber is coming apart and the back brake is completely broken (its missing a bit that links the lever to the wire on the handlebars) but im really keen to get it sorted out, it'll be awesome

I've put you as owner for now, was just hoping we could get it a little more active as the old original poster hasn't been active since 2010! So anything would be an improvement.

Edit: Although feel free to discuss it between yourselves and send me a message when you've come to a decision. I don't mind who takes over personally, as long as you can be active and get some decent resources together.

Add this: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/ to the other link for bike maintenance, might not look as pretty, but it is well known and considered to be one of the best resources on the net.

A section about bike magazines available to research latest equipment?
Section about the more well known races/competitions? (Incidentally the Tour of Britain is next month I may apply to be a volunteer for it...).

Merlin Cycles is another online store worth adding, I've used it a couple of times.

I think we have a Cyclist society wiki page? Maybe a link to that?

How about a stay safe section? Both yourself and some information about locking bikes up properly?

Fed up of waiting for a decent second hand bike to come along on ebay So many brilliant bikes going, but they are either to far away for me to pick up or to bloody small

Anyway! Brilliant effort buy all the track team today, I was so chuffed for Victoria! And the men are just brilliant, WR after WR!

I can't wait to get back to Manchester and get riding on the Velodrome again

Got offered a Bianchi reparto corse 928 Carbon


(Not the same bike, that ones campag but same frame )

For £800 delivered. It has Mavic Ksyrium Elite, Ultegra through out and brilliant FSA finishing kit!
Im not sure if I should go for it, the offer is only there until tomorrow
The relaxed geometry worries me a bit, and its not a looker imho

Don't go for it unless you have had the chance to ride it, with road bikes it is much more important to get the right size frame! I think its the curved down tube that makes it look a bit odd?

I've ridden plenty of Bianchi but not this one, and like you say its not ideal to buy without riding.

It is a funny looking bike, there is a photo of one with the stem slammed right down and a lovely set of deep sectioned carbon wheels and it looks so much better.

I think I'll let it go though, don't want to spend that much on a bike I wouldn't be 100% with! Guess its going to be a few more weeks of waiting/saving/hoping.
Or just spending more money than I have on a brand new canyon!

Some serious kit for the money.. Ultegra and Ksyrium elite wheels. I tend to love Bianchi bikes but that bottom bar swooping up just ruins it for me.
