Re: Refused a student account??
I've had a ridiculous response in trying to get a student account with Halifax - a bank whom I've had two perfect acounts with since I was 16 (I'm now 21 and have a perfect credit history due to insurance payments and HP on a car).
1. Applied to a student account online as I use online banking.
2. Was sent a letter refusing the account based on my credit rating.
3. Rang up the helpline - they siad ring Experion as there's probubly something wrong on my credit rating.
4. Rang Experion, credit rating is perfect, was told to ring Halifax back to try and put the search through again.
5. Tried Halifax again, went through the entire fuss of trying to give all the details over the phone to be told that it has been reject because I have too much credit against my name and there is no proof that I can pay my bills whilst I'm a student.
So... the very thing that is giving me a good rating is being held against me....
And apparently I can't afford to pay my bills despite having saved up enough to cover my direct debits for the next academic year.
*angrily shakes fist at banks*
I'm planning on going into my local branch and asking to see the manager to sort things out.
