Default Final interview - in contention with one person - need tips

Not only do I have a job interview, but this is also the last step in the interview process for the job. And to make matters worse, I am in contention with just one other person for a job I really like the sound of.

Because this is no normal interview, and because I will be meeting the HR manager, what tips do you guys have? I'm pretty good at interviews, but I really need to be on form in all departments - I need EVERY advantage I can get.

Thanks

Perhaps I can help (having recruited myself before);

1. Make sure you do your research. Find everything you can on the company including financial details (turnover/profit etc), its history and anything that's hitting the news about them or their industry. Get on to Google or their own website and do some digging. It'll not only prove your knowledge and interest in the company/industry but also prove a strong common talking point in the interview.

2. Show enthusiasm. No HR Manager wants to see someone who pretends to like their company but shows no enthusiam for them. Be passionate about the role and try to sell yourself as much as possible as to why you should be selected over the other candidate.

3. Sounds trivial, but make sure you know your CV/Application form inside out. I caught someone out when they wrote on their application form / CV that they had done something they knew nothing about. Know what your past jobs were and more importantly, what skills you got from them. Bring in any other past experiences, however small in to the conversation if you can.

4. They will be looking for you to stay calm under pressure, especially at this stage of the process. They may ask questions like "what can you bring to the company" which you will need to be well prepared for and confident in your delivery.

5. Get a decent nights sleep beforehand! Sounds simple but it always shows when someone is tired and does affect performance.

Good luck!
