incomplete as-level

hi guys

basically asking on behalf of a friend
he wants to do chemiscal enginerring at cambridge
he got an A in the january module and did the june module in june
however he never managed to complete the practical assessment module which he will instead be doing next year
this means the highest mark he could possibly get in the AS-Level result in august is 70%, in other words he will not get a B or an A.

What should he do?

Put his grade as "pending".
Get this explained in his reference with a good reason why. Btw, you can only take general engineering at cambridge.

If he has not taken all the assessments for the qualification it is unlikely that the exam board will certificate (or finalise) the AS Grade until he does. If both the AS (and A2 which I assume he will also be doing next year) qualifications are listed on UCAS as 'pending' he should be okay. However, to be fair, his application would be stronger if he already had the full AS while going through the process. If there is a good reason why he did not have the time to do the assessment it may be worth a very small mention in his personal statement.
