I would like to do child psych as well. Or neurolgy.
Mmmmh, why do I want to do that....I think there is much space for research in psychiatry and I think mental illnesses are terribly interesting. Just as neurological deficits are, but an advantage of psychiatry is that you can spend lots of time with your patients.

Drills, screws, mallets, nails, needles, saws... fun times

Rashes, personality disorders, endocrine pathology, renal failure, strokes, bleeding vaginas... sad times :frown:

i did some work experience in paediatrics and i liked it, but im not going to pick a speciality before i even get into med school because i think it's kinda jumping the gun.
might just be me, though.

Gynae Onc > Medical Onc > O&G > Palliative Care.

If you read back through the myriad of "speciality" threads on here over the years, then you'll see that 50% of that list is "new for 2008"!!! So, it just goes to show...!

paeds/GP/obs+gynae maybe. I think I'd prefer paeds but we'll see.

I find psychiatry, neurology, endocrinology and metabolism interesting but don't think
I'd want to specialise in them.

Bones, skin, cardio and respiratory... no
I've no idea. I think I have to try and make it into medical school first, before making decisions like this!
Renal/rheumo/dermo although leaning very heavily towards incorporating my specialty into a career in academic medicine. But as Fluffy said, ask me a year ago and I don't think any of those would be there!!
Eventually, baring in mind i get through my degree, and then the graduate one I'd PROBABLY want too specialise in cardiology (seeing as thats what my inital degree is on lol) Mainly because it's an area of medicine thats moving in leaps and bounds, and i'd want to be a part of it

Commercial law.
^^^Either you've entered the wrong thread or want an escape from medicine when you qualify??

I'd like to in Neurosurgery, although there are few training posts.
Paediatrics! Fo sho haha well I was doing work exp and I saw this little girl who was wearing this really cute red dress and she had to be followed around by her dad holding a canister of O2 that was bigger than her and he had to explain to her why she couldn't go out. (real tear jerker) And I love kids (in a nice way) soo yeah. ^^

Paediatrics/GP/Psychiatry

All three are pretty interesting.

neurosurgery.i find the brain so fascinating. so i'm very very determined to become one now, reading more neuroscience-related articles...and i did work experience with a neurosurgeon and i loved every minute of it

Yeah IF I get into med school (hopefully), maybe nephrology (!). But still leaving my options open obvss
Argh. I hate this question...everyone asks me it!!! And I usually say maybe infectious diseases abroad (gotta love a bit of XDR TB, HIV and malaria) or surgery or haematology or...no idea.

Probably not O&G, paeds or psych.

My particular interests change so often. Every time i study a new area i become interested in that and so throughout med school i imagine i will change my mind 1000 times. Except infectious disease...one thing that never interested me. Saying that, i'll probably end up loving it and it being my specialty...i'm like that
