As you can see from my sig, I'm starting A-Levels in September, mainly because I want to focus on the Humanities/Social Sciences & am sure of which direction I am heading. The idea of two more years of Maths would sicken me, even if it was only Maths studies. I also hate languages, there is no way I could do 2 in the IB.

IB is great if you want to keep doing a wide variety of subjects & it keeps all doors open. This means you don't have to think about university in yr11. It is also highly respected by the top universities [Oxbridge ect] and is seen to be tougher. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but a top score in IB is supposedly equivalent to 5 A's at A-Level.

I'm going to be doing the IB from September.. I hope it is going to a good decision... I know it's more work than A-Levels but hopefully the benefits or it are better Especially how it is recognised across the globe, and is an alternative to being limited as you are with A-Level.

But since I haven't actually taken it yet I can't really comment on whether it's good or not? Nor could I comment on which is better as I won't have any experience of A-Levels.

A-Levels.

I would really have to have taken the IB though, as the program seems alot more rewading and the flexibility of having six subjects.

There isn't a school in Sheffield that uses the IB program though

I'm starting the IB in September. I don't know yet if it's the right choice for me but I guess I'll soon find out :P

I would do A-levels because I do not ever want to do English after GCSEs next year (and that extended essay!), plus with IB there's a fixed structure, while with A-levels its anything you like. Also you can only pick 3 highers, while with A Levels they're all at a good level, and you can do more (but maybe you could with IB..)

I guess IB is really good if you want a good/traditional variety.
