Japanese help - Rosetta stone

I bought level 1 rosetta stone for Japanese and I just find it odd that there are no direct translations for the phrases. and you have to try and decipher the meaning from an image !

Well could somebody please translate:

karera wa oyoide imasu. Imasu keeps popping up alot in the first chapter lol.

Does anyone else use Rosetta stone because I was thinking of sending it back ?

Thankyou for your time !

And does "otoko no hito" mean "old man" ?

います? I assume you mean; 彼らは泳いでいます。They are swimming.

masu is the polite ending and is affixed to the stem 泳いでい which is a continuous verb of the action to swim. The verb is 泳ぐ

彼ら is weird because I only use it when referring to a bunch of men.

just man 男の人 - lit, person of male.
