Right, basically after loads of events I finally have no one to live with. I was wondering has anyone lived alone? What's it like? It may have to be the option I take. I don't want to live in halls again, tbh, Looking back halls were just okay, I don't think I'd want to do it again. I was thinking unite halls but they are truly expensive (esp. as I go to uni in London)
Living alone will be seriously expensive in London and lonely too. I suggest you look on gumtree for people advertising spare rooms and at your university too - loads of people will have one spare room after somebody's dropped out and will be anxious to fill it. It may seem daunting moving in with strangers at first but a friend of mine did it after her plans fell through and it worked out brilliantly.
I live alone, but not in London. In the center of Sheffield....I pay 425 a month plus bills. works out to under 500 a month. It's not lonely, for me anyway, as im very independent and want my own space.

Have a look at the unite website, they do studio flats in most cities.
This happened to me and i had to find a place by myself. Im sorry to say but its gonna be expensive and in the end although very expensive i went for unite. he rent is expensive but at the end of day i need a place to live.
The tips i can give u are
1) Does your university have a website that shows accomadation. The university of london website i know has a website but i dont know how good it is. Going through your university WILL be cheaper then going privately.
2) A one bed flat/studio will i zone 2 will cost around £200 a week. This could include bills depending where u look. However if u get a room it will defo be cheaper. Its up to you to make that descion and then search from there.
3) Ask around. People do have people drop out all the time so do ask around.
Bah. There doesn't seem to be such a culture of studio flats over here as there is in Europe. I wanna (be antisocial and) live alone, dammit!! But UK studios are all hideously expensive.
Just get a flatshare with randoms
Roombuddies.com¨is good
Move in with randoms! I had to do it last year because I transferred into the second year at Leeds and didn't know anyone who required a housemate, I met a few groups of people and chose my current housemates, it's worked out so well
I would suggest trying to find any spare rooms in student houses. I had to move in to private accommodation as soon as I started uni and was put in a house with randoms. It was fine though and I have stayed in this house for 3 years although the housemates have changed now due to them finishing and some getting a room in halls.
You'll get to make new friends which isn't a bad thing.
Thanks a lot everyone for the advice. I found a nice place in Bayswater for £200 a week including all utilities bar electricity (i'm not sure right now but i think there was internet in there too). The only unite studio flat I could find, in an area close to uni was Kirby street at £340 a week
I'm not too sure about flatshare/moving in with randoms...it took me till second term to feel 'comfortable' in my halls (but I know I should suck it up -haha).

I've done it for over a year. It was an absolute nightmare at first. I was in a new town, on my own, and knew nobody whatsoever. But I furnished and decorated the place, a lot of this done alongside part- or full-time work, and properly made it my own. It makes you stronger as a person and more independant. Knowing that you can live on your own and enjoy your own company is an important thing in life, because people will not always be there for you.
I'd rather live on my own than with bad people, but I'd rather live with mostly good people (in a rented property) than live alone. Living with others in a place that you own yourself takes much more responsibility, commitment and hardship. Living with your landlord, which I have also done, is not a fun thing, either.
It's all a bit of a gamble when you're looking for somewhere to live at uni.

Jesus! £200 a week?!?! Where are you getting the money to pay for this?
I live alone in london (but not for much longer) and have enjoyed it. I didnt want to go into a flatshare with randoms because it could so easily be difficult and I really like my own space. It does cost alot though. I pay £610 a month for a flat on the edge of zone 1. I'd say go for it if you are able to, but you have to be quite strong to make yourself go out and socialise. But I think theres nothing better than coming home after a long day, shutting the door an knowing you wont have any battles of rotting food, people stealing food or people not flushing the toilet.
I found my flat through flatland http://flatland.co.uk which is a longon agency. Be warned though. The landloards arent checked and mine has turned out to be terrible. Be careful and make sure you have a good look around your flat and at your contract before you sign.

I live alone, i pay 600 rent a month, unfurnished so i had to buy washing machine, bed, sofa etc. then 65 council tax, elec, gas, water.
I wouldnt change it for the world, im set now, whereas all my mates who have just graduated are panicking they havent got any belongings etc.
If you can afford it, go for it, im in zone three, so thats why its cheaper. Central, you are looking at 1200 a month for rent
