Default Do you have to stick to university open days?

Two of the three universities I would like to go to only do open days on wednesdays and saturdays.

I'd really like to attend one of them, but I work late tuesdays and all day saturdays, and my work gets really narked when I take random days off.

I live in the south west and the universities I would like to go to are teeside and northumbria, really far up north, so it's take about half a day one way.

I know this seems weird, why don't I go to some closer to home? But these are the ones with the best style of course that I want to do.

Does anyone know if I have to stick to open days or is there some way i could visit in a time that's best for me?

Email or call the unis and ask if you can visit and have a tour at another time because you can't make it to the open days, they tend to be quite accomodating. Surely unis are more important than work, explain to your work that you're going on an open day well in advance and hopefully they should understand, as your future's the most important consideration. And yes, definitely go to the uni that's got the best course for you, regardless of how far away it is.

I'm sure the universities that you are interested with arrange some sort of ad-hoc visits. Contact your university.

Or just turn up and have a wander around! Find your department, and I'm sure if you go to the reception there, they'll be able to find someone to show you around the place - I did it for a couple of open days.

I didn't go to any of the uni open days I applied for, but I found the information packs they sent me useful. It showed me maps, how organised the university is, how proffessional and how welcoming <without> actually going!

You can usually visit whenever you want.
Sometimes Uni's have 'Visit Days' or days when you can go and have Campus tours etc and others might lend you a student for a few hours to show you round.
If you ring the Open Day people they will probably advise you on what best to do next.

I went to visit Sussex on my own and no on an Open day. It was alright actually I just sort of wandered about a bit.

might be cheaper on a train if u book in advance for maybe next month after ur results and the train station is basically in a straight line towards the uni turning right and the very top
