    Alas, I fear that no grammar-school our country has to offer would be sufficiently literal for your purposes.

    RGS GUILDFORD FTW

    schools like eton, winchester, charterhouse, st pauls, habs...missed out plenty. check the league tables..
    Shame those aren't grammar schools.

    What are grammar schools, anyway?
    (I'm kidding).

    Are we talking (free) state grammars (of which there are none left in my region) or fee paying grammars (of which there are a few in my region, the oldest has just closed down).

    Mine =]
    But seriously, what for? GCSE results? A-levels? Facilities?...
    According to the Independent Alevel Results [for 2006, I cant be bothered to find newer ones] my school came 9th in the country, the boys school came 6th I love my school.

    Apparently Colyton Grammar School, Devon came first.

    Im assuming we are talking about fee paying private grammar schools, rather than just private schools...

    Manchester Grammar was my old one, and it seemed consistently high in the league tables, until a couple of years ago when we were the worst in the country as every single one of us failed to pass GCSE maths :p:

    Wow, my old Catholic school (which doesn't discriminate according to ability) could rival many of those top grammars.

    Depends how you measure it- mine (Colyton Grammar School) is top notch academically but is the 3rd lowest funded school (in terms of funding per pupil) in the entire country (GB)

    I think Pate's school in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire is one of the top schools in England. One of my cousins goes there and she's only in year 8, but they have to revise for tests throughout the year. Whenever I leave her a comment on Bebo I always see comments like "How much revision hav u done" and other school-related comments lol. :rolleyes:

    if by people you mean teachers, most grammar school teachers are nuts, especially the ones who've been there for years, but school wouldn't have been so fun without all the "eccentric" teachers!

    putting my vote in for King Edwards Handsworth, Birmingham
