Default Feel really down recently don't know why

Over the last week or so I've had random like "attacks" of worry and sadness that last normally a couple of hours, when im not feeling like that I'm my fine usual self.

I cannot figure the cause.

I'm in a situation now where I have finished my exams, am not worrying about the results because I am pretty much guaranteed a place on my course. After talking to my girlfriend about what's happening to me she thinks that this is the reason I am feeling bad - because I have nothing else to do I am thinking too much and worrying for no real reason.

Recently my grandmother died - in my head I've come to terms with it and don't consciously feel bad any more - but I d
When I'm worrying I keep thinking stuff to do with my girlfriend - feeling bad like we are going to break up or something or that I might not love her anymore - when I'm not worrying and feeling down though my feelings for her are as strong as ever and there is no reason to think we are going to break up - apart from my fits of worry that we are going to.
o have a tendency to hide feelings from everyone including myself - for example the day of my GCSE results in my head I was calm and confident however I felt extremely physically sick, as soon as I saw my results I was better.

About a month ago my girlfriend of over (18 months) after the stress of the exams said she didn't feel as close to me any more and if we carried on that way we might not be able to stay together - this really knocked me but since then we have been a lot better together and she's happy with me and confident in our relationship.

When I'm worrying I keep thinking stuff to do with my girlfriend - feeling bad like we are going to break up or something or that I might not love her any more - when I'm not worrying and feeling down though my feelings for her are as strong as ever and there is no reason to think we are going to break up - apart from my fits of worry that we are going to. I think it is a possibility that I felt bad and the the first thing in my head was my relationship and therefore formed an association between the two.

I am leaving home in Sept to go to university and I am not exactly looking forward to it as some people are. There is a possibility that I will get into university and my girlfriend will not - she admits the fear of this bothers her greatly and that she is trying to avoiding getting extremely close as we once were for fear of the pain if we break up - perhaps subconsciously I have the same fear ?

My mother suffers from an anxiety disorder and my father has had issues with depression.

Any questions anyone has I will attempt to answer, I could just really use some ideas on what the cause is as this is really getting me.

Find something to take up you time. Maybe or job or a project which may stop you from worrying. Maybe try herbal remedies such as Kalms which can relieve worry.

If it gets more excessive then maybe you should see your GP, if only for a chat.

The cause is probably just a lot of little things adding together and the stress of day-to-day modern living. Again though i'd consult your GP who may be able to shed more light!

I think you're having these depressing states because in general nothing happy's been happening. So perhaps give it a lil wait until your gf's results are out and she's gotten into uni, then you can patch it together.
Once one thing gets better, it generally leads to the next, and the next.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, but life goes on and perhaps she's gone to a better place. So try not worry too much about it.

You're prolly just really stressed right now. Try taking a nice warm/hot bath and then get some snacks, pop on some comedy - I recommend family guy. Or feel free to have a chat.

Hope all goes better for you.

It's natural to feel worried and down: you're approaching a huge period of uncertainty and upheaval, moving to a new city, away from freinds, family and security - and your girlfriend saying she feels distant to you ain't exactly going to help your feeling better.

That aside, adolescence is generally a period of emotional turbulence and disturbance in self image. I know I've certainly felt the way you've described on and off pretty much constantly for the last 4 years. It's very normal, I reckon if you talked to your friends you'd find they're feeling aimless too: there's nothing to do but wait and that makes you feel ominous, even if your results are garenteed to be great.

I'd suggest you find a way to occupy yourself, embark on a new hobby or interest or part-time job. It'll distract those feelings of aimlessness. I hope you feel better soon!

I feel like this too.
Just randomly feeling down even though I should have loads to feel great about. Although i'm really not sure I'm gonna get on the course I want to (damn warwick and its 4 a's)

Think you just need to relax. Be exactly who you wnna be. Do stuff that makes you feel happy. Be around people who make you feel good about yourself. Try not to worry about things. This is the best time of our lives and comparitively to the rest of our lives we really have no worries.

If it isn't going away though maybe go to your GP? If you find talking through your feelings difficult maybe a counsellor will help?

Feel free to PM me anytime you want a chat or anything. Know that what other people say doesn't really make any difference but I'm trying to follow my own advice and its kind of helping

Wow first there was nothing then all that in like 10 minutes... seems like I just need time to enjoy things and nothing more bad to happen... keep calm and ride out the periods of being down - my girlfriend is being so supportive with me I'm actually surprised - she isn't really the nurturing type but she's come through when I needed her I am really happy that she hasn't been offended when I've told her how I'm feeling bad about us as a couple and she's just helping me work through it
