Default Holiday Panic

I know there've been threads on this before, but as far as I can search, they're all pretty old (please correct me if I'm wrong!). So, for the benefit of me, and probably loads of other holiday go-er's this year, What are the most essential holiday items, include anything you can think of!

As a side note - what's the best types of clothing to wear on a plane journey? - Having never been on a plane before, and have a 9 hour flight to America planned, I'm unsure what to wear/take with me..

All help is appreciated!

Wear something loose and comfy. Something that's not white, because you'll probably spill something on yourself! Wear shoes that are comfy and also easy to take off, because they might ask you to do that when you arrive in the states/sometimes here, for security reasons.

Whereabouts in America are you off to? :]

Ooh and for your flight bag.. you need lots to read/lots of music obv. Also remember to check the security regulations wrt liquids and what you can take in your hand luggage I'm taking one of the little hand gels in my bag which I think will be quite useful. Not sure what else is necessary for the actually flight, though. They normally give you a blanket and pillow but you might want to take something of your own.

Something comfortable for the plane! It will be really unpleasant if you're not. Something to move about in easily is also a good idea-avoid drainpipe jeans!

Essential holiday items: Sunscreen for America! Aftersun, painkillers, plasters, money, plug socket adaptors (you can probably buy them over there), toothbrush, any medication obviously, travel insurance/medical card?, bikini yaaay, comfy shoes, loose clothing (I assume you are going to a hot place of course), sunglasses.

I'm going to Germany tommorrow-in such a holiday mooood!

For the plane:

- pashmina (or other scarf type): they will provide you with blankets but they are itchy, smelly, and make everything go static!

- cream: if you're anything like me your skin will get dehydrated on such a long flight.

- socks: it gets cold up there! and for other medical reasons apparently.

- ipod/book/psp: some form of entertainment.

- wash bag/ makeup bag: to freshen up before you land. make sure all your liquids in hand luggage are 100ml or less.

For holiday:

- obvious stuff like clothes/ underwear.

- Beach: hat, suncream, swin suit, beach towel, book.

-Sight Seeing: Camera, batteries (?), film (?), travel guide book/ map, comfy shoes!

Thats all i can think of really. think Chantilly has already listed stuff like adapters etc.

Oh yeh and some extra advice since you said you're going to america - shopping is super cheap out there and no doubt you will be doing some. so don't overpack your suitcase... leave it a bit empty so you have space to fit all your shopping and bring it back home!

have a good time!
