There are lots of threads that discuss the pros and cons of studio accommodation. When it comes down to it though, its up to you to be as sociable as you want to be, imo. It's all what you make of it, in the end. At least that's what I'm telling myself! I'll be in a studio come September.

I don't think you need to worry. If you are up for meeting people, getting out there, then you will. As long as you don't lock yourself in your studio and stay there. You'll meet people in Fresher's week, on your course, and in any societies you join.

It all depends on the person. Some people like to be on their own and others don't. If you're one of those who doesn't then make an effort to keep your room door open/ knock on other peoples' doors / offer to go to the bar etc etc. You'll make friends pretty damn quickly

You're right, it won't be as sociable. Mainly because most of the people taking up those studio flats are post-grads/2nd-4th year undergrads etc. You'll have to get yourself out there and get involved with lots of different activities to make up for it. That said, there is no better place than Nottingham to do it. People are so friendly here, and nobody thinks you're a weirdo if you just introduce yourself and chat to people that you don't really have a reason to know. You won't have any problems making mates if you want to.

Just a note, it's not only 2nd-4th years that are in studios. everyone stays in studios, I know lots of 1st years who stay in studios, when I was a first year and after that. It's in your hands how sociable you get. If you want loads of friends, then put yourself out there, talk to your flatmates, go bug the people in the next flat, make friends outside of broadgate. Even in the normal flats, people can decide to stick to themselves or make friends. It's not really a problem unless you make it a problem.
