Hi everyone,
I have accepted a place to study for a M.Phil. in Classical Archaeology at Merton starting this fall, and I have several questions:
1. As a Merton postgrad, what happens in terms of accomodation during the term breaks (winter or spring)?
2. What is normally provided in the rooms in terms of furniture? I haven't been told yet and am wondering what I'll need to rent/buy.
3. How time-intensive is the Classical Archaeology program (as in essays/week or hours/week)? I'd just like to have some idea so that I'm not surprised when I arrive.
4. I haven't gotten any information on when or how I will choose my classes. Does anybody know how/when this happens?
5. Also, I happened to have won an award as an undergrad in the States, but the award ceremony is on a weekend in late October. If I attend (and I would like to, since the trip/lodging/etc. is paid for), it would require me to miss a day or two at Oxford. Is attending a bad idea in terms of my lecturers/work/tutor, etc.?
6. Is there anything important that happens right after the end of Michaelmas term in early December? I have plans to return home after term ends but don't want to miss anything.
Sorry for all the questions. I'm sort of confused/worried about everything.
Thanks in advance for any help.
