Ah okay, should have said i want to do primary. Does anyone know about Warwick, Brighton and Bristol UWE? I have 6 unis on my list, need to check them all out. So annoying that you only get to choose 2, so hard to choose!

Every year, Bucks Uni produces a league table. This year the top 5 are:
1. Cambridge
2. Oxford (only offer secondary)
3. Exeter
4. Warwick
5. Kings College London
But this is for both primary and secondary.

You can look for yourself here

but does that matter for later employment?
i.e. would you be better placed having done your PGCE at, say, Goldsmith, rather than at London Met?

i am in this situation aswell and i need to decide which unis to apply to.
I applied to middlesex university but they rejected my application.. since the pgce primary teaching places are going fast and its a competitive course I really need a place for this year.
I called up uni of east london and london met, they still have places left.
which one would you say is a better uni out of the 2?

I'm a third year student at London Met studying education studies, so I know the education department and the teachers who will teach me in my pgce next year. They made me pick this university for my pgce because I couldn't imagine not having them as my teachers they are all professional no arrogance and truly in the course to help you realise ur ability, I don't know about UEL though. My advice to you when choosing which uni to go to is to find out about the placements that they offer and which one would suit you best to create more opportunities in your future.

ohh i see. is it a good uni then?
what do your mean by placements? do you mean the schools that we get given to do our 18 weeks of teaching in?
I just want to go to a uni that would help me get a job in the future as a teacher and most people say that the uni you go to is important. but theres hardly any options and time is running out i dont want to miss out on a place this year..

You wont be judged by what uni you got your pgce at. My advice is pick one and get you application in asap!
definitely just choose one you can travel to easily, the PGCE year is known to be stressful so you dont need to worry about travel costs and stress on top!

It might depend on your living situation for next year, what is closer for home and placements?

The Boosh very useful information. I live in London and have 2 Secondary pgce interviews lined up for this coming week. One with IOE and one with Brunel. Now for all intents and purposes Brunel seems far better in terms of the quality of teaching I will get and also their specialism being in Computing which is what i'm applying for. People keep shoving IOE down my throat. Why must we go for status over delivery is my question. Any advice? Have you heard of Brunel?
