in 1997 they introduced NHSnet and NHSdirect, cut costs on administration and also changed the fundholders to primary care groups insteads of GPs. In 2004, there was the introduction of the foundation trust status that hospitals can apply to if they have 3 star rating.

The question is have they been successful! there is a lot of contraversy about the foundation hospitals, that it might create a two-tier system and more privatisation...

cool thanks.
Can you explain about the Foundation trust status, two-tier system and more privatisation?
Surely privatisation is a good thing because it takes pressure off the NHS and shortens the waiting lists, so less demand on doctors. and the French has a better healthcare system than us because they pay to have consultations, and they have private medicine.

I presume you want to do medicine?

Privatisation is only a good thing if you have enough doctors for it. The problem is that doctors are starting to do less NHS work and more private work, which benefits few at the expense of many!
