Did anyone take Photography for AS Level?
What was your result?
I'm asking because, for some reason, everyone in our class (even those students that did some amazing work!) got a U! Also, results in other Art and Design subjects weren't that great.
Our teacher mentioned something about the grade boundaries shifting and they didn't know, but I didn't quite understand.
I just wanted to see if this was something to do with the exam board (Edexcel) or if our Art Department just messed up. Our school has a special status in Arts, thats why I'm also so confused as to how everyone failed.

I remember taking my AS last year and got A,C,D. Was not happy at all. However this year I turned it around and got ABA, and ended up with B at ALevel, so very happy. This was however with AQA.

I would say with photography, its a very iffy subject. I know certainly for my course, it wasn't so much 'How good can you take photographs', it was about creativity, and expressing how you gained the ideas, how it compared with other photographers work. I needed to do this far more in depth, and also realised I needed to stand on my own two feet and not focus on what my lecturers thought was 'good', because when it came to AS Results they were obviously wrong, so I basically kept all my work to myself this year until i was completed. Could have ended badly, but it worked and I pushed my grades up.

Sometimes it can be down to lecturers, sometimes down to project options.. sometimes to the examiner!

quite a few people have been complaining about the marking of the art and design subjects. i think some are asking for them to be remarked
in photography overall i got a C because i completely didnt bother with my 2nd piece of coursework and got a D but i got an A in the first piece and a B in the exam. i'm quite happy with it tbh, if i wasnt so lazy maybe i could have got at least a B in the second piece and got a higher overall grade

I got my Photography AS results back today, D & E too - with a majority of my class mates attaining the same grade; how on earth is that meant to happen when I was predicted an A?

I'm not sure if its a flaw in the system or in the teaching.


But, good news is I got Full Marks in English and that was by AQA!

Hmm, thats the same with me. I was predicted a B, which is why I was so surprised I got a U!
There must be something wrong somewhere.

I have just learned that 2 of my other Photography classmates have both recieved D's instead of the predicted A's!


Shall be writing a letter of confusion/complaint to Edexcel looking for answers!

I was upset with my results aswell, no1 in our class got an A, and most people lowered one or two grades. Evry1 hu did Art & Design courses did poorly, wiv a lot of us getting identical marks. I worked very hard for photography and instead of getting the A I wanted and was told i'd probably get, I ended up with a C. I know I couldn't have done anymore for the subject and just don't understand how these courses are marked. Makes me angry.
